Assistant Rest. Manager

The position is responsible to assist the Food & Beverage Manager in all aspects of the restaurant operations including staffing, people leadership, excellent quality of food, service and the accounting of all financials.

**JOB DUTIES**

**People Leadership**
- Lead all staff along with the F&B Manager in tandem with the company’s core values, culture, and service standards and adhere to the collective agreement.
- Communicate in a professional manner maintaining good relationships, listens and responds appropriately.
- Assists in setting and communicating clear objectives and standards
- Assist the F&B Manager in staff scheduling and training based on business needs, training and providing positive and constructive feedback
- Conduct daily shift briefings
- Provide employee performance feedback to the F&B Manager in a timely manner
- Ensure staff have the information and tools required to provide guests with quality food and outstanding service
- Serves as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviours
- Actively encourage, support and reward individual and teamwork initiatives

**Operations**
- Works closely with the Chef, Sous Chef, kitchen staff and all front of house staff for a smooth and seamless meal service
- Ensure all staff including the kitchen is well informed of all issues regarding the restaurant
- Assign and oversee pre-opening and closing duties with servers, bartenders and hosts.
- Make sure the restaurant is properly set to standards, clean and ready for each meal service
- Assist with moving and arranging tables, chairs and settings for groups and guests with special needs - wheelchairs, walkers, high chairs
- Greet all guests in a welcoming, friendly and professional manner
- Assist with seating guests during busy times, pulling out chairs and placing a clean and current menu in front of each guest and providing any assistance as requested during seating
- Communicate any guest special needs to the kitchen staff
- Monitor the dining room, patio for seating availability, safety and the well-being of all guests throughout the meal service
- Ensure the Steps of Service Standards are being followed by all staff for an exceptional guest experience
- In-depth knowledge of the current menu’s food items, daily features and ingredients
- In-depth knowledge of the current wine and spirits beverage menu

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum Supervisory experience in a Food & Beverage work environment
- Valid Smart Serve Certification
- Valid Food Handler Certification
- Proven ability to elevate service levels, and effectively train and develop teams
- Computer proficiency, MS Excel, Word, POS systems
- Knowledge of Silverware POS an asset
- Possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and have a strong ability to prioritize.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Works most of the time indoors and outdoors during patio season
- Must be able to bend, reach, lift at least 30lbs
- Must be able to walk and stand for an average of 8 hours per shift
