The Police Review Commission will be responsible for overseeing the police complaints process for all police services in Alberta. This arms-length agency will be at the forefront of leading and supporting police services through a significant change in process and philosophy. **Role Responsibilities**: The Police Review Commission (PRC) will be responsible for overseeing the police complaints process (including absorbing the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT)) for First Nations and municipal police services in Alberta and will have approximately 150 staff (approximately 30 FTEs from ASIRT). Following implementation, the PRC will be a leader in police oversight, bringing in a significant change to the oversight model by combining criminal and regulatory investigations in one arm’s length agency. The Executive Advisor is responsible for providing strategic issues management and coordination for the Police Review Commission. This includes developing, coordinating and evaluating information through reports, briefings, correspondence and processes to support the agency’s business requirements. It will also ensure compliance with relevant legislation and government policies. This position is responsible for all issues management activities for a new public agency responsible for police complaints, investigations, and coordination of disciplinary hearings. This is a highly complex, high-profile initiative. Main responsibilities include: - Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication linkages with the Deputy Minister’s Office, Minister’s Office, staff and leaders across the Police Review Commission and ministry, and key stakeholders. - Anticipate and identify emerging and potentially sensitive issues that have an impact on the Police Review Commission and raises them to the chief executive officer (CEO) and executive team. - Draft, review and manage briefings and background materials for the chief executive officer, including coordinating with branches and delegating activities to senior executive leaders. - Develop and implement processes and systems to track major branch initiatives to inform branch leaders of significant developments, progress, emerging issues or concerns in the day-to-day operations of the police review commission. - Provide ongoing strategic advice and recommendations to the CEO in relation to the implementation and ongoing operations of the Police Review Commission. - Keep abreast of legal, political and technological changes that may impact the organization and prepares CEO accordingly. - Participate on the agency’s leadership team to determine strategic direction for the agency and help identify items for discussion and provide information to determine and clarify actions required. - Works collaboratively with the CEO’s executive support team to proactively anticipate the CEO’s needs. - Some travel (
