**Nasittuq provides Operation & Maintenance services for the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.**
**Job Scope**:
Reporting to the President, the Business Development Manager is a newly created position that will work closely with the Nasittuq functional areas to prepare business strategies and advance growth opportunities for Nasittuq in addition to being involved in bid and proposal development. The ability to establish and sustain effective business development relationships with market participants, various industry sectors, external customers and multi-disciplinary teams is critical to the success of this position.
**Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:
- Business Development
- Prepare and implement business development strategy within the framework of the business plan
- Identify business opportunities and partnerships, trends and opportunities, promoting Nasittuq's strategic growth in defence, facilities management and northern operations
- Organize and track all business development activities in a spreadsheet database
- Generate ideas for new or enhanced service opportunities or clients
- Work to improve Nasittuq’s position in the industry and marketplace
- Keep apprised of and secure current and potential new business opportunities in Canada primarily in the Government and Defence sectors
- Account/Client Management
- Support relationship management with stakeholders of current key contracts
- Build strong industry partnerships to drive our position and footprint (including sub-contractors)
- Prepare comprehensive presentations and reports and marketing materials that present our value to prospective clients
- Bid & Proposal Management
- Analyze government solicitations such as RFPs
- Analyze RFP requirements, developing outlines and compliance matrices
- Participate in strategy discussions to determine strengths (win themes, hot buttons)
- Prepare and submit bids and proposals, track milestones, manage and coordinate resources, ensuring quality and ensuring bids are submitted on time
- Coordinate internal resources in support of proposal response (ie HR, Contracts, Operations, etc.)
- Market Analysis & Research
- Prepare market analysis to support evaluation of new projects and complete Government and Defence market research as required
- Monitor relevant industry trends and their implications
**Qualifications**:
- Post secondary education in a related discipline and a minimum 5 years’ of experience in business development
- Previous Government and/or Defence sector experience
- Knowledge and understanding of business and financial concepts, processes and practices required for making sound business recommendations & decisions
- Knowledge of Inuit Land Claims Agreements and Government of Canada Procurement process considered an asset
- Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner
- Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization
- Knowledge of issues, opportunities, and challenges for conducting business within marketplace considered an asset
- Adaptability and ability to manage priorities with attention to detail and work cross-culturally
