**About Potash**

BHP’s Jansen Potash Project located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP’s first and most advanced potash project. Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP’s global portfolio. Jansen’s large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in 2027.

**Purpose**:
The Head of Directional Studies, Potash ensures excellence in the development and delivery of Identification Phase Studies, and that studies are guided by a clear business-oriented approach, and with the appropriate selection of the Preferred Investment Alternative. As a leader, they are also accountable for fostering BHP culture across the function, developing the right talent, promoting communication, innovation, and collaboration.

This role will play a key role in the integration of the region, and will collaborate closely with Asset Leadership Teams, Planning and Technical Teams, the Minerals Americas Leadership Team, and other study teams amongst other key internal and external stakeholders.

**About the Role**:
In this role, you will:

- Be accountable for the development and management of a portfolio of Identification Phase Study (IPS) for the Potash business, considering all initiatives above US$20M capital cost
- Provide advice and guidance to the Program Director Studies & Innovation and Vice President Planning & Technical, Asset Presidents and Minerals Americas Leadership Team in all Identification Phase Studies related topics
- Ensure that transparent and timely information is provided to Assets President and key regional stakeholders of risk and opportunities identified during the development of the studies
- Build functional capabilities to develop and sustain function excellence in the development and delivery of Identification Phase Studies
- Facilitate assets and function engagement and buy-in, to ensure timely and quality delivery of Identification Phase studies
- Identify, engage, and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders, building strong relationships and exercising an influential role with the Asset Leadership Team
- Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions, use BHP's risk management framework, and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes
- Define value drivers and determine the boundaries of an opportunity to determine if it is worth further investment
- Engage the capabilities of the entire organisation and strive to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste
- Know our customers and ensure their needs are met

**Work Location**:
Downtown, Saskatoon; Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

**About You**:

- A post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline
- A strategic mindset, able to navigate complex commercial and stakeholder relationships
- High degree of business acumen, with deep understanding of capital investment lifecycle and drivers
- Strong influencing skills to build stakeholder alignment, and challenge stakeholder views
- Experience in team leadership within a complex organisational context
