**Study Abroad Coordinator**:
**Summary**:
The study abroad coordinator leads the development, implementation, and operations of innovative programming and services that support inbound, outbound, sponsored, and special study abroad initiatives at the university and with international partners. This role is responsible for leading tactical operations and designing medium-term strategic initiatives related to student mobility and risk management, ensuring alignment with institutional goals. The coordinator provides one-on-one advising aimed at fostering an inclusive and exceptional academic experience, while also proactively engaging with key stakeholders, including college advisors and external international partners, to align the centre’s vision with broader institutional objectives. Additionally, this position drives cross-functional projects that enhance operational excellence and student success.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Increases student engagement in study abroad programs through collaborative, integrated approaches to university-wide and student-led promotional material and peer mentoring from past participants
- Makes recommendations regarding resource allocation, process re-engineering, and policy adaptation to support robust study abroad student advising and program administration
- Leads cross-functional projects and change initiatives that streamline processes and elevate program quality
- Collaborates with senior leadership to design, test, and implement new practices that meet evolving student and institutional needs.
- Leads initiatives to proactively manage and mitigate liability and risk
- Researches international education best practices, anticipates future challenges, and recommends and implements updates to policies, procedures and practices campus-wide
- Acts as a strategic liaison between the centre, colleges, international partners, and other campus units
- Collaborates in providing oversight of the operationalization and regular review of student exchange agreements
- Participates in consultation and due diligence processes pertaining to student mobility partnership agreements
- Develops and implements medium-term strategies to innovate and enhance study abroad programming
- Represents the centre on committees and within cross-departmental teams to shape long-term policies for student mobility
- Leads operational improvements regarding the development and use of the Move-On system, including onboarding and training of new users, developing and introducing new uses and capabilities, and maintaining and promoting best practices
- Leads the development of comprehensive communication strategies in collaboration with internal communications professionals
- Collaborates on the creation and maintenance of print and online materials to effectively promote study abroad programs
- Oversees and participates in the collection and analysis of performance data, event statistics, and program evaluations, using this data to drive continuous improvement and to set measurable targets for program success
- Reviews and evaluates current practices, identifies opportunities for improvement, and integrates forward-thinking initiatives
- Mentors internal staff and student ambassadors, championing a culture of excellence in international education
- Establishes and leads a study abroad community of practice on campus
- Communicates and acts in a respectful and professional manner, collaborates effectively, abides by policy, and contributes to a positive and productive work and learning environment
- Engages in continuous learning by participating in activities, training, and events related to Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Demonstrates respect and dignity for all members of the community, actively contributes to an environment of acceptance and inclusion of others, and responds to different perspectives from a place of curiosity, respect, and non-judgement
- Undertakes related duties, as assigned, consistent with the nature of the position

**Qualifications**:

- A bachelor’s degree in a related field; a master’s degree is preferred
- Certification as a Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) is an asset
- An advanced professional certification in international education, program management, or a related discipline is preferred
- Minimum of five years’ experience in university student services or a related field, with significant involvement in international education and study abroad programming
- Experience in process improvement, risk management, and data-driven program evaluation is highly desirable
- A proven track record of strategic planning, project leadership, and successful cross-functional collaboration
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations, with sensitivity to cultural differences and emerging global trends
- Strong leadership skills with experience in guiding teams and spearheading strategic
