**Reports to**: Regional Manager, YWCA Early Learning and Childcare

**Job Classification**: Term (school year), Part-time - 20-25 hours per week (Mon-Fri, depending on location) - eligible to be renewed the following school year

**Location**: Spryfield, NS

**Position Overview**
- The BAP Assistant receives daily instruction from the Program Lead in the implementation of program plans, menu plans and delivery.
- The BAP Assistant is expected to work within established guidelines of the YWCA and within the policy, procedures, and regulations to deliver the planned quality before and after school program.
- Works in collaboration with the Program Lead to assist in the creation of daily programing plans and/or activities.
- Leads students in a variety of settings and assists in delivering a variety of indoor and outdoor games and activities.

- Must be a team player with skills in supervision and caring for children/students in a large group setting.

**Essential Duties of the Position**
- Work in a team setting respecting established routines for the students.
- Provide for active physical play both indoor and outdoor.
- Create a warm, pleasant, and inviting atmosphere.
- Devote the whole of working time, attention, and energies to the care of the students.
- Communicate with children with respect and at their own individual and developmental level and set realistic behavior expectations following the YWCA Halifax NS-BAP Early Learning Behavior Guidance Policy.
- Support children in developing problem
- and conflict-solving abilities.

**Qualifications**
- Education in Early Childhood Education/ Child and Youth Studies, Community recreation and /or related experience in a childcare or recreation setting.
- Minimum 1 year experience working with children.
- Food Handling/Safety Certificate - or willing to obtain.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C.
- Child Abuse Record Check, Criminal Records and Vulnerable Sector Check.
