Reporting to the General Manager, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for a diverse set of responsibilities in all areas of the HR function for the Saskatchewan and Manitoba Regions. This position supports and facilitates human resources activities such as: recruiting, hiring, employee relations, benefits, training, and other employee services. This position compiles, maintains, and processes information related to staffing, recruitment, training, employee performance, and classifications, and supports the performance management process.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Performs tasks required to administer and execute human resources programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, various types of leaves; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; succession management; long term service awards; and training and development
- Provides sound HR advice to all levels of operations management, taking into consideration company policies, business process standards, and relevant provincial legislation
- Responsible for the regional recruitment lifecycle (job postings, resume screening, interviews, reference checks) and full cycle recruitment for non-union positions (includes office and some trades); manages the onboarding/ off-boarding process for all non-union in a timely manner
- Prepares employment contracts, job descriptions, termination packages and discipline documentation
- Maintain HR Systems accuracy, data integrity, and update HRIS and JD Edwards personnel information including training, performance evaluations, employee relations, terminations and transfers.
- Provides timely and accurate information to the payroll department, where necessary, to facilitate / coordinate a variety of internal compensation related processes
- Coordinates annual employee engagement survey program; follows-up on regional action plan
- Active participation in operational and safety toolbox meetings, providing input relevant to the HR function
- Organizes quarterly all staff meetings and drafts presentation materials
- Ensures data is entered accurately into HRIS (BambooHR); files and maintains HR records
- Communicates regional announcements; provides regional content to Corporate Marketing for company newsletter
- Promptly and professionally responds to all internal and external customer requests
- Issuance of adhoc reporting upon request from select employees, managers or Corporate HR
- Attends career fairs, as required
- Participates in various HR projects and initiatives, including policy reviews
- Some IT related onboarding duties: ordering of devices; troubleshooting and staging of mobile phones/tablets; access issues; usage monitoring
- Administers operations customer surveys and manages the customer survey dashboard; reports weekly and quarterly on progress
- Oversee duties and responsibilities of the Manitoba Region Human Resources Coordinator

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Post-secondary degree/ certificate in Business Administration, Commerce our Human Resources Management, complemented with a minimum of 5 years of progressive human resources experience, inclusive of talent management, in a generalist level HR role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- CPHR designation (or working towards) is considered an asset
- Experience working in construction industry is an asset
- Working knowledge of provincial employment standards, human rights legislation and other regulations affecting human resources
- Experience using BreezyHR, BambooHR, Litmos, SharePoint and JD Edwards would be considered an asset
