**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Duties**:

- The IT Manager for Advanced Metering Systems (AMS) is responsible for the planning and day
to-day management of BC Hydro’s critical advanced meter infrastructure. This role will manage
- and support the 24x7 operations and enhancements of the core Advanced Meter Infrastructure
- (AMI) systems, accountable for an annual $3 - $6 million combined CapEx and OpEx budget. The
- critical AMI systems include the Secure Network Infrastructure & Field Tools (SNIFT), Multi‐
- Service Grid Network (MSGN), Meter Data Management System (MDMS) and ITRON OpenWay- The IT Manager (AMS) will:
- Plan, direct and manage BC Hydro’s AMI systems, end to end.
- Manages operations team resources to provide 24/7 support in alignment with operating service

targets.- Provides leadership to maintain the health and reliability of the systems by advocating and

delivering on activities and projects that ensure continued operability of the solution set.- Collaborates with business stakeholders, technical asset owners and Cyber Security to define

AMI systems requirements, set priorities, and establish scope and prioritization of technology
- investments and operational activities to meet business priorities.- Provides technical leadership on system design specifications, system acceptance testing and

commissioning for system maintenance and/or system upgrades.- Recommends, approves, and executes expenditures within the annual budget allocation and,

when necessary, may make recommendations beyond budget limitations.
- Recommends short to mid-term operational plans for the systems, providing input into broader

strategic planning while ensuring adherence to plans by subordinates.
- Provides management oversight and input to a variety of complex, high impact portfolio of

projects.
- Manages capacity and ensures that optimal workforce levels will meet all service delivery

objectives.
- Provides leadership direction for capacity and resource management for operations teams and

IT Service vendor resources. Evaluates annual service delivery requirements to plan, conducts
trend analysis, gap analysis, resource projections, and manages overall resource allocation and
capacity.
- Provides overall people management of staff and create a safety-first culture. Engages in self
- development through personal leadership.
- Develops strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and vendors.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or

equivalent.- A minimum of 8 years directly related experience (technology management in a large

organization, advanced meter infrastructure, field area networks, system upgrades) or equivalent.- A minimum of 5 years of management or supervisory experience for diverse technical teams with

demonstrated critical thinking and though leadership to manage cross functional dependencies,
- risks and changes.preferred.- Knowledge of financial budget planning and management.
- Ability to understand business needs and build and maintain effective relationships with internal

business clients and external stakeholders.- Ability to facilitate discussions and build consensus. Experience using structured decision
- making to reach effective decisions.- Demonstrated experience in project planning, business case development and project delivery

standard and processes.- Exceptional oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, teamwork and leadership skills.
