**The Opportunity**
The Supervisor of Planning and Zoning Enforcement works directly with Planning staff and oversees in the review of and processing of development agreements, commenting on Committee of Adjustment correspondence, staff reports and technical comments. This position takes a lead role in working with Planning staff on their professional growth and is actively involved in coaching, mentoring, and providing regular constructive feedback on assignments to ensure the staff learn from their experiences. The Supervisor of Planning and Zoning Enforcement works closely with the Supervisor of Growth Management in supporting the data collection and accuracy for consents, minor variances, and enforcement files for monitoring purposes and reporting on KPIs.
This position provides functional, technical and professional advice and guidance to Senior Management Staff, City Council, City departments, external agencies, consultants, landowners/developers and the general public related to the coordination of land use planning and development approvals and processes to ensure that efficient, sustainable and functional land development occurs across the City.

**Education **(degree/diploma/certifications)
- Four (4) year University Degree in Urban Planning, Geography or related discipline
- Registered Professional Planner (RPP) Designation from the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI)
- Position Equivalency Code: F
**Experience**
- Seven (7) years of progressive experience performing duties related to the above-mentioned major responsibilities within a municipal government or land use planning and development work environment including three (3) years of leadership/supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated experience preparing, applying, and interpreting planning documents and regulation instruments.
- Demonstrated experience in effective change management techniques, strategic planning, operational planning, group facilitation and project management.
- Demonstrated experience in making recommendations and oral presentations before City Council, Committees, organizations and groups.
**Knowledge/Skill/Ability**- Thorough knowledge of the following legislation, regulations, or requirements: Condominium Act; Development Charges Act; Environmental Assessment Act; Heritage Act; Lake Simcoe Protection Plan; Municipal Act; Ontario Planning Act; Provincial Growth Plan; and Provincial Policy Statement.- Working knowledge of the OLT appeals processes including demonstrated experience preparing, presenting, and defending professional planning evidence under cross examination.-
- Thorough knowledge of the Committees of Adjustment process.- Working knowledge of management principles, labour relations principles, collective agreement administration and contemporary management practices.- Advanced skills include:
