- **Position Summary**:_

The Bar Manager works under the direction of The General Manager & Assistant General Manager to ensure the operational success of the bar area of The Mule Hamilton. The Bar Manager is responsible for ensuring The Mule Hamilton’s bar is always welcoming, competently staffed, and is providing a variety of unique and tasty options for the thirsty masses of Hamilton.
- **Duties and Responsibilities Include**:_
- Ensure proper bar supervision is maintained at all times, and handle any and all complaints or issues that arise in a professional, helpful and friendly manner.
- Ensure guests are given prompt, attentive and unobtrusive service at all times.
- Manage the business aspects of the bar, such as keeping a current liquor license, negotiating with suppliers, managing budgets, and setting long-term goals.
- Under the direction of the General Manager & Assistant General Manager, creatively guide and grow The Mule Hamilton’s bar program by continuously evolving the bar menu, while encouraging creative insight and participation from The Mule Hamilton’s bar staff.
- Participate in the hiring of all bar staff including bartenders and barbacks, and work with all bar staff members to be constantly developing and improving, and assist with training and orientation of new team members.
- Run and administer regular bar training and oversee & audit bartender’s spec adherence on a regular basis.
- Assist with bar scheduling, and monitor day-to-day bar staffing levels, and effectively adjust labor accordingly.
- Monitor and order for bar inventory, adjust ordering needs as necessary, and complete regular cost analysis.
- Assist the General Manager and the Assistant General Manager in the execution, scheduling, staffing, and oversight of all off-site events as necessary.
- Ensure that policies and procedures are followed at all times, including health & safety and steps of service.
- Liaise with the General Manager, Assistant General Manager & Hospitality Manager as well as BOH Management to ensure effective cooperation and communication at all times.
- Take a proactive role in encouraging teamwork, cooperation, productivity and a positive attitude within the working environment.
- Be able to access and understand all functions of Silverware (software), and report weekly hours and shift reports as needed.
- At the end of all shifts, assist in completing all necessary daily reports and approving all cash outs.
- Report and champion the repair of all maintenance needs as observed.
- Work as part of the FOH team, including as bartender, server or support staff, as needed.
- Assist with facilitating meetings such as regular staff meetings, disciplinary action meetings, annual and probationary reviews.
- Attend meetings, including Other Bird Managers meetings, The Mule Hamilton’s Managers meetings, and The Mule Hamilton’s front-line staff meetings.
- Be familiar with the management staff of all Other Bird outlets; collaborate on staffing, events and overall communication.
- Other tasks as assigned by The Mule Hamilton’s General Manager or Assistant General Manager.
- **What we are looking for**:_
- 5+ years experience in restaurant bartending working with craft beer and craft cocktails is required.
- Front-of-House restaurant management experience is an asset.
- Ontario SmartServe certification is required.
- **Skills & Abilities**:_
- Having strong organizational skills and attention to detail is paramount.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be able to delegate tasks effectively, and work in a fast paced environment with multiple interruptions.
- Must be able to work and lead effectively in a team environment.
- Must demonstrate honesty and integrity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage conflict calmly and effectively.
