CBC New Brunswick is looking for a dynamic new host for Information_ Morning Moncton_, the morning current affairs radio program serving eastern New Brunswick from Sackville in the south to Campbellton in the north.

Your role

You are an insatiably curious early-morning storyteller with a passion for drawing emotion and stories out of interview guests. You are equally comfortable holding a politician accountable as you are chatting with children, and you know when to put people at ease and when to challenge them.

You understand that audiences want to be both entertained and informed as they start their day, and you realize the importance of making audiences feel welcome and part of a community.

You have a sense of adventure, an eclectic range of interests and a keen desire to meet new people, explore our city, and learn other perspectives.

You are passionate about championing stories from the region’s under-represented communities, and you love meeting listeners where they live through in-person public appearances and at remotes.

An exceptional journalist and a keen observer, you are able to quickly analyze a broad range of issues and thrive in the fast-paced, high-pressure world of live, local radio. You have a strong grasp on Moncton and New Brunswick’s political landscape and its resource-driven economy, and you understand how these issues affect the day-to-day lives of the people who live here.

As a member of the Moncton Morning team, it’s clear you care about your colleagues. You act as a team unifier and collaborator, and are always looking for creative solutions to challenges. You live and promote an inclusive and respectful work culture and have a deep appreciation for different perspectives, opinions and experiences.

Work is governed by CBC/Radio-Canada programming and/or journalistic policies and standards, but there is a requirement for creativity, initiative and independent judgment.

This role is based out of Moncton.

As required, perform the following tasks:
- Pitch ideas, suggest and line up interviewees, prepare background notes and questions, conduct on
- or off-air interviews, and provide narration and linking continuity between program segments.- Present segments or content on other TV/radio programs.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.- Five (5) years’ on-air experience or equivalent.

Skills:
- Thorough understanding of issues and events particular to eastern New Brunswick.- In-depth knowledge of regional, national and international affairs.- Wide range of genuine interests, knowledge and insight, reflecting curiosity in many current affairs topics, and an ability to make them relevant to existing and new audiences.- Solid knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.- Engaging, curious, spontaneous and authentic on-air personality.- Widely read, knowledgeable and nuanced thinker.- Exemplary journalistic skills, including interviewing, storytelling and critical thinking.- Openness to diverse perspectives and ideas, and differing points of view.- Excellent soft skills and conscious, positive leadership.- Ability to function independently and in a team setting while collaborating with other CBC/Radio-Canada units.- Ability to work effectively under deadline pressure.- Genuine passion for public outreach and willingness to be an enthusiastic ambassador of public broadcasting and the program.- Knowledge of and creative ideas around the use of social media and digital platforms to connect with and grow audiences a definite asset.- Technical skills, including field recor
