Annual salary: $ 155,000.00 - 196,000.00
**What you'll do**
- The Capital Construction Group safely delivers large, multi-disciplined, complex high-risk projects that span multiple years.
- The group adheres to well-developed standards, has developed and maintained outstanding supplier partnerships as well
- as stakeholder and First Nations relations.
- This new senior leadership position is a key role in the Capital Construction leadership team managing a newly created
- division, Capital Construction Services. This division will consolidate the existing Safety, Planning & Practice, and Site
- Engineering & Commissioning groups into one division. The Capital Construction Services Division Manager will report
- directly to the Director of Capital Construction, while leading a division of approximately 80 individuals, across a mix of full
- time regular and temporary M&P, MoveUp, Columbia Hydro Constructors and Consultants.
- The senior management team firmly believes that establishing this division will enhance the existing teams by providing
- them with the necessary support to sustain the valuable services they offer to Capital Construction and other business
- units. Moreover, it will play a pivotal role in fostering future growth within Capital Construction and BC Hydro.
- This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing safety, site engineering, commissioning, planning and the
- Construction and Contract Management (CCM) Practice.- Responsible for providing safety guidance and support for the Capital Construction Group.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety and creates a culture where safety is first, and employees are recognized for
safe performance and compliance with safety regulations and safe work practices.- Manages Development of construction project plans, strategies, and resource requirements to deliver consistent front-end
planning support and set up projects for success. Is accountable to the Construction Managers or Director for the accuracy
- of the objectives within the scope of the work packages.- Manages Development of strategic plans and delivers business unit initiatives to provide structure within our practices
while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.- Assists the Construction Managers in planning the implementation of a project within an agreed upon scope, timeline, and
budget, using a high level of judgment in the assessment, planning, and execution of these very complex, high-risk, high
- profile construction projects. The failure to deliver could have
- significant cost, safety, or reputational impacts for BC Hydro.- Leads the management of commissioning work on numerous projects with significant dollar value complexity, profile and/
or risk. Provides guidance to Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Directors on these high risk, high impact
- activities.- In collaboration with the other division managers, provides technical direction and assistance to the Capital Construction
teams relating to Construction, Contract Management, and Site Engineering and Commissioning best practices.- Ensures that resources with appropriate skill sets are provided, assigns work, and provides instructions, advice and
technical leadership and guidance to those resources on a daily basis as required in the office and on the Site(s).
- Provides advice and guidance to Project Managers, Construction Managers or Directors regarding construction safety,
planning and commissioning.
- Facilitates and maintains productive relationships with internal stakeholders such as Project Delivery, Engineering and
Operations.
- Provides leadership to approximately 4-5 direct reports in meeting the division goals, including setting performance
objectives, providing employee development, coaching, mentoring, constructive and developmental feedback, and driving a
highly engaged safe culture.
- Builds and maintains effective business relationships within Capital Construction and other BC Hydro business groups.
- Provides input to the public consultation process as it pertains to construction site activities and issues.
