Athabasca District includes Long Lake Provincial Park, Cross Lake Provincial Park and North Buck Lake Provincial Recreation Area.
Cold Lake District includes Cold Lake Provincial Park, French Bay Provincial Recreation Area, English Bay Provincial Recreation Area, Moose Lake Provincial Park, Franchere Bay Provincial Recreation Area, Garner Lake Provincial Park, Whitney Lakes Provincial Park and Kehiwin Provincial Recreation Area.
The Athabasca and Cold Lake districts are looking to fill Information Officer positions for the following parks:
- Long Lake Provincial Park
- Cross Lake Provincial Park
- Cold Lake Provincial Park
- Whitney Lakes Provincial Park (Ross Lake Campground)
**Role**:
Are you looking for an opportunity to engage with Albertans as they enjoy our beautiful parks during the Summer? Then please consider this position with Forestry, Parks and Tourism
Information Officers are the first point of contact for visitors to Provincial Park campgrounds. Their role in the permit booth is to register campers and create a positive experience for visitors by providing useful and timely information around park activities, rules and regulations, and nearby amenities.
**Your responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
**Administrative Duties**
- Learning and adhering to all pertinent policies, procedures and protocols including campground rules and regulations and GOA directives.
- Responding to in-person and telephone requests for information on area amenities and recreational activities within the Park.
- Staying up-to-date on relevant activities, opportunities, and conditions (trails, water, fishing, etc.) to provide to the public.
- Learning emergency protocols to provide support to visitors and staff in an emergency situation
**Booth Operations**
- Using Reserve Alberta Parks (RAP) software and functions to register campers, update visitor information, and process payments or refunds using the system.
- Utilizing ASPIRA software and functions to operate cash register and point of sale machine.
- Performing opening and closing tasks, ensuring booth locations are kept clean, organized, secure, and safe at all times.
- Facilitating retail sales of product and services which include: firewood, concession items, ice and ice cream (where applicable)
- May include others duties as assigned by supervisor
**Customer Service & Communication**
- Providing exceptional customer service as the first point of contact for day users and overnight campers
- Receiving and appropriately deal with public comments and complaints
- Gaining familiarity with the natural history of the area to answer inquiries from visitors
**Please note**: This is a seasonal wage opportunity starting at the beginning of May with an anticipated end date of the September long weekend.
There are up to 2 positions available at each of Long Lake, Cold Lake, Cross Lake and Whitney Lake.

- High School Diploma
Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
**Additional Requirements**:
- A Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
**Assets**:
- Valid First Aid / CPR-C certificate
- Valid Driver’s Abstract
- Defensive Driving Certificate
- Strong customer service skills
- Experience with point of sales machines and cash handling.
- Knowledge of Alberta Parks and direct experience with Reserve.Alberta.Parks.ca
- Familiarity with campground operations, park regulations, campground etiquette and surrounding Park amenities.
- English language proficiency
- Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
