**About the Role**
The Bridge is seeking a Head Chef to oversee the Nutrition Program across the organization’s designated facilities. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Head Chef will supervise and lead a team of talented kitchen staff with a passion for cooking to provide exceptional food quality and dining experiences for our program participants.
The Head Chef will develop, prepare, cook and serve menu plans in accordance with accepted nutritional guidelines and therapeutic diet needs of program participants. This position is responsible for controlling labour and operating expenses through effective planning, budgeting, purchasing decisions and inventory control, as well as ensuring sanitation standards as set forth by local, provincial and federal Health Department regulations are met or exceeded in all cooking and dining areas.
**Position**: Full Time 40 hours/week. Weekend work is applicable to this position.
**Compensation**: $25.34-$29.53 per hour plus applicable shift premiums
- Evening shift premium - additional $3.00 per hour between 1900hr-0700hr
- Weekend shift premium - additional $2.00 per hour between 2400hr (midnight) Friday - 2400hr (midnight) Sunday
- Shift premiums compound
- additional $5.00 per hour between 1900hr-0700hr on 2400hr (midnight) Friday - 2400hr (midnight) Sunday
**Indirect Compensation**
- Extended Health and Dental benefits after the 3 month probationary period
- 9.31% Pension matching after the 3 month probationary period
- 3 weeks vacation pay which increases with length of service
- 1 paid wellness day per year
- Paid sick time which increases with length of service.

**Qualifications**
- Education and experience_
- Culinary Certificate or Degree by an accredited culinary agency in preferred.
- Minimum of three years' recent, related experience in a professional kitchen or restaurant environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Adept at working effectively in high energy & busy environments and works well under pressure.
- Job skills and abilities_
- Strong communication, time management and administrative skills
- Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate others to produce consistently great food
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work within budgetary limitations
- Demonstrated ability to operate a PC including MS office and familiarity with and ability to navigate Complete Purchasing site, ECPS
- Solid track record of success; demonstrating upward career tracking
- Ability to work eight to ten hour-plus shifts, plus the ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry up to 50lbs as needed
- Other requirements_
- Criminal record check in accordance with agency policy.
- Ability to provide proof of COVID19 Vaccination or letter of exemption
- Medical Clearances
- Current certificates in CPR/First Aid, Food Safe & WHMIS
- Clean, valid BC driver's license and use of reliable vehicle for deliveries to other program services
