**Facility Manager - Burnaby (Canada) WtE Facility**
**Location**:Burnaby, BC (Canada)**:
Reports to: Operations Area Manager II
Experience Required: Minimum 8 Years
Travel Percentage: 0-10%
Education : Bachelors Degree.

**Position Description**
Reporting to the Operations Area Manager, the Facility Manager will manage the activities of the Facility’s Operations. He/ She will work with Client and Regulatory agencies on operational considerations of the facility. Interfacing with community to promote a positive image of the community is also an important part of the role. This job is based at the Covanta Burnaby Waste To Energy facility located in Burnaby, BC.
**Essential Duties/Responsibilities**:
The responsibilities of the Facility Manager include, but are not limited to:
- Leading and managing a team of operations, maintenance and plant support employees. Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to lead others toward meeting or exceeding financial operational and performance goals in a power generation environment.
- Support the Business Manager and facilitate successful client relations and management of financial and contractual matters.
- Be a strong advocate for our environment and safety efforts while developing long-term positive relationships with the local community.
- Maximize the financial return received by Covanta from the operation & maintenance of the facility.
- Coordinate all outage and maintenance planning including utilizing regional and Corp. Resources when necessary.
- Operate the facility in a manner that protects the health and safety of employees and visitors as a first priority which includes familiarity with regulations and permits governing the facility.
- Work closely with Business Manager to pursue opportunities aimed at maximizing the return on all assets associated with the facility.
- Manage financial results of the plant.
- Manage all employee related issues in the facility.
- Improve the performance and takes primary responsibility for all operating expenses.
- Coordinate staff efforts to solve problems and respond to opportunities as well as motivate the team to encourage personal and professional growth.
- Participate in public forums to support business development and community education.
- Maintain effective relationships with local political & community leaders.
- Monitor utilities the competition and other business regarding pricing business opportunities and market influences.
- Ensure compliance with all contracts to protect long-term interests of the company. Ensure compliance with environmental standards and applicable governmental regulations.
- Assists the Regional VP with other duties as required.
- Comply with all Covanta Policies and Procedures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage subordinate who supervise a group of employees in the facility. This position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Facility. Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to take appropriate safe action on his/her own initiative to prevent equipment damage or injury to personnel during emergencies or unusual situations. Ability to motivate employees, maintain high morale and get along with people. Ability to use office computer system MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Prior experience with Maintenance Management Software is an asset
