**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Operational Technology Support, the co-op student will be responsible for the continued development and increased utilization of GIS as an asset and operational management tool in ATCO’s Natural Gas Division.

**Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities**:
Responsibility Area #1 - Business Strategy

Interface with all user groups to develop a thorough understanding of individual system needs and current practices.

Identify system opportunities and provide recommendations for the strategic use of GIS.

Facilitate the comprehensive implementation of GIS across ATCO’s Natural Gas Division.

Support efficient workforce utilization, lifecycle management and auditability of GIS O&M functions.

Engaged in all GIS management projects to ensure Operational Support Model is defined (working with the OTS team) and training is adequately prepared/developed (working with Workforce Development team).

Responsibility Area #2 - GIS Data Governance and Support

Support the implementation of recommendations brought forward by users to evaluate, assess and/or approve high level changes in our ArcGIS and ArcFM products.

Support security provisioning and data maintenance activities.

Run reports and pull extracts from the GIS database as required to meet business needs.

Develop Web Maps as required to meet business needs.

Works with Global IT Architects, System Analysts and Mapping & GIS to ensure all requested changes comply with technology governance models established for ATCO.

Responsibility Area #3 - Work and Asset Management

Liasons with the business to identify process and technology issues related to GIS across ATCO’s Natural Gas Division.

Ensure linear assets and their unique characteristics specific to the high pressure pipeline system are appropriately addressed within the program framework.

Ensure the program addresses the Regulatory requirements of pipeline operations as they specifically relate to the high pressure operation.

Provides project Business Leads within the organization with templates, tools and resources (where required) to fulfill the requirements gathering, process mapping and gap analysis needs of the business on GIS related initiatives.

Performs the Business Lead role for GIS initiatives where it’s deemed appropriate.

**Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**:
Currently attending a GIS post-secondary practicum program

Knowledge of pipeline and gas industry would be an asset.

Well-developed communication skills and strong attention to detail.

Ability to work under mínimal supervision.

Ability to influence, manage and facilitate projects.

Strong analytical, problem solving and collaboration skills.
