SNP has formal partnerships with nine publicly funded Ontario Universities and Colleges and collaborates with six Ontario-based Indigenous owned and controlled post-secondary Institutes.
**Overview & Purpose**
Under the direction of the Campus Manager or designate, the Facilities Supervisor oversees and coordinates day-to-day facilities preventive maintenance and repair work in a safe and efficient manner following recognized industry standards, regulations, and codes, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The Facilities Supervisor maintains good order and appropriate service levels by overseeing employees and contractors completing repairs and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and associated tools and equipment at Six Nations Polytechnic campuses, contributing towards providing a safe, accessible, clean, and comfortable campus environment. The Facilities Supervisor is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff, students, stakeholders, and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).
**Duties**
The duties of the Facilities Supervisor include, without limitation:
- Developing, prioritizing, and scheduling preventative maintenance and repair work for the Facilities team in a safe, effective and efficient manner in compliance with industry standards, regulations, and codes;
- Communicating with all relevant stakeholders and obtaining prior approval for preventive maintenance and repair work;
- Coordinating, scheduling and monitoring work completion for preventive maintenance and repair contractors and skilled trades;
- Tracking and monitoring facilities service requests to ensure requests are completed within established timelines and quality standards;
- Managing the performance and work of Facilities Maintenance Technicians, Facilities Technicians, and Facilities Custodians, including assisting with work when required, and completing scheduled performance evaluations;
- Providing supervisory and support coverage at both campuses, as required;
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and off hour special events, as required;
- Training, developing and providing ongoing support to Facilities team members, ensuring that regular one-on-one meetings are carried out and that personal development plans are in place;
- Monitoring cleaning and janitorial work by contractors and Facilities team members to ensure quality assurance and assisting with work when required;
- Identifying, reporting, and sourcing materials, equipment and supplies to be used by both employees and identified contractors;
- Ensuring tools and equipment are in good working order;
- Ensuring secure facilities by scheduling coverage during and after operating hours, both emergencies and non-emergencies;
- Reporting key facility issues to the Campus Manager in a timely manner;
- Ensuring compliance of the Facilities team with the SNP campus procedural manual, particularly in relation to COVID-19;
- Ensuring appropriate use of chemicals, materials, powered and non-powered equipment, tools and personal protective equipment;
- Ensuring daily removal of refuse and recycling and disposing of occasional bio-hazardous waste in a compliant manner;
- Other related duties, as required.
**Qualifications**
**Education and Experience**
- High school or equivalent preferred;
- Minimum of four (4) years’ Supervisor / Lead experience that includes training staff, developing and assigning staff schedules, managing inventory levels and securing facilities;
- WHMIS training and experience using hazardous workplace materials, including gasoline, and chemical cleaning products, powered/non-powered equipment and tools, including lawnmowers, trimmers, floor polishers, vacuum cleaners and floor scrubbers; and
- Certificates and/or licenses for HVAC, safety, tools, and equipment, considered an asset.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Strong mechanical aptitude;
- Knowledge of health and safety practices and safe lifting;
- Ability to perform routine physical activities including standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, lifting and carrying light (up to 5kg or 11lb), medium (5 to 20kg or 11 to 44lb), and/or heavy (over 20kg or 44lb) objects, pushing, pulling, working in an awkward position and/ or maintaining one position for a long period;
