Position: Supervisor - Caitlan’s Place
Location: Halifax
Reports to: House Director
Location: 6319 Pepperell St.
Hours of Work: 40 hours/week - Tues-Sat - Rotation 11:00am-7:00pm & 7:00pm-3:00am

The Coverdale Justice Society provides support and specialized services to women and gender-diverse individuals experiencing the justice system in Nova Scotia. Our priorities reflect communities of criminalized women and gender diverse people, including Indigenous and African Nova Scotian women, trans and queer people, those affected by gender-based violence and those living in poverty. We focus on supporting individuals impacted by the legacy and traumas of historical, and ongoing colonization, racism, misogyny, homophobia and other forms of marginalization and oppression that impact people uniquely at every intersectional position.

Caitlan’s Place is a community bail and supported housing program in Halifax that offers flexible and voluntary support services for women and gender diverse individuals who are experiencing poverty, mental illness, addictions, homelessness, and the criminal justice system. Coverdale understands that without access to housing and services, many people experiencing homelessness are trapped in a homelessness-jail cycle—rotating in and out of jail, detoxification centers, and emergency health care.
This revolving door keeps people trapped in a cycle of crime and survival. Caitlan’s Place provides 15 single occupancy rooms, shared living spaces, laundry facilities and on-site 24/7 wrap-around support services that respond to the social determinants of health and justice.

Caitlan’s Place provides community based bail and supportive housing services to women and gender diverse individuals aged 18+ who are on bail or release from provincial jail. It’s goals are:

- To reduce remand rates in Nova Scotia
- To prevent recidivism
- To prevent and address breaches of court orders
- To eliminate the homelessness-jail cycle

**Job Summary**

As the Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervision of the frontline workers, and the provision of service to residents. As a member of the management team, you will have an exceptional understanding of the policies and procedures of Coverdale Justice Society, and will model behavior that is in line with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. The Supervisor will report to the House Director of
Coverdale Justice Society and supervise a team of frontline professionals. You will play an integral role in contributing to and executing the strategic direction of Caitlan’s Place and setting and delegating clear priorities in the development of initiatives and programs.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Leadership**
- Support the House Director in formulating the vision, setting out the strategic priorities, and developing the strategic and operational plans for Caitlan’s Place;
- Implement the strategic directions developed in collaboration with the Executive Director, House Director and Board of Directors;
- Represent Coverdale Justice Society in a professional manner at all times, maintaining a positive, cooperative, supportive attitude and appearance.
- Ensure employees are well oriented to the position, employees have clear direction and timely specific feedback.
- Guides staff in effectively resolving difficult occupancy issues and disputes through Restorative circles and conversations.
- Maintain supportive housing best practices that promote social inclusion; ss affordable; safe and well-maintained; suitable; and tenancy rights are promoted and respected.
- Manage and support staff through regular performance reviews, coaching and mentoring the team effectively to meet the program goals;
- Coordinate and host regular team meetings and case conferences;
- Provide mentoring and coaching to employees, students and volunteers.

**Program and Client Services**
- Ensure initiatives and programs are designed in partnership with other organizations, building upon the intersectionality of Coverdale’s work supporting the needs of the community;
- Complete residential meetings, and involvement with resident’s feedback
- Organize and support staff in development and delivery of programs within Caitlan’s Place and community outings.
- Support and advocate for services and supports within the community.
- Connect with community organizations and programs to assist the individuals residing at Caitlan’s Place.
- Ensure all casework documentation are up to date monthly, and provide assistance and coaching to the casework team
- Ensure all records are up to date on HIFIS

**Frontline Duties & Household**
- Responsible for the day to day operations of the house, to include the intake and referral programs, managing the resource planning and talent
