Opportunity
Combined Metal Industries is currently looking for a highly passionate and customer-focused Trader Trainee to join our growth-oriented team and contribute to the company’s success through buying and selling metal products.
The Trader Trainee will work both in individual and team capacity to build sustainable businesses by developing long-term mutually beneficial trading partnerships.
Training Program for Trader Trainees
- Learning the technical skills of metal commodity trading.
- Developing approaches to cultivate and grow a portfolio of customers.
- Learning the dynamics and ins and outs of B2B selling, negotiations and building relationships for the long term.
- Learn how to market materials for optimal value.
- Build strong relationship skills to manage after-sale service with customers.
- Learn how to organize your portfolio and drive growth.

Specific Responsibilities of a Commodity Trader
- Building and maintaining professional relationships with external stakeholders, including cold-calling, and qualifying prospects.
- Leading, developing, and supporting trading activities.
- Negotiating prices and sales with customers.
- Continuously generating new trading ideas by identifying arbitrage opportunities.
- Keeping a constant up-to-date knowledge of the markets.
- Managing trading positions while balancing risk and financing.
- Communicating and collaborating with the operations team to ensure smooth transactions.
- Travel to client sites in Canada and the US to maintain relationships with the existing customers

Education and Experience
- Fluent in French considered an asset.
- Degree in finance, business or science bachelor’s or advanced studies (preferred).
- Previous experience in a meritocratic role where there is a requirement to influence other’s decisions and actions considered an asset. For example: sales, account management and business development.
- Experience in competitive sports or other highly competitive roles is considered an asset.
