**Starting Salary Range**: $60,000 - $65,000

**Overview**:
WWF-Canada’s 10-year plan to Regenerate Canada aims to expand large-scale resilient habitats, undertake complex ecosystem restoration, and reduce or eliminate industrial impacts and, as a result, reverse wildlife and biodiversity loss and fight climate change. **Position Description**

The Specialist, Restoration and Regeneration will support restoration initiatives at WWF-Canada to realize benefits for biodiversity, wildlife, ecosystem carbon, as well as for First Nations, Inuit, Metis, and communities. This role will coordinate collaboration with large-scale rights and landholders currently conducting and planning restoration on a major scale to tabulate restoration activities, document and promote contributions to Canada’s restoration goals under the UN Global Biodiversity Framework, Freshwater Challenge, and the Bonn Challenge, and to inspire momentum and increase action on complex ecosystem restoration.

**Responsibilities**:

- Identify and develop relationships with rights and landowners that are pursing or committed to large-scare restoration including but not limited to First Nations, Inuit and Metis, local communities, relevant business and commercial interests, federal, provincial and territorial agencies and others, as appropriate.
- Assist with assembling a coordinated best practice tracking infrastructure, working across units inside WWF-Canada and with academic experts, non-governmental organization and stakeholders identified above.
- Stay abreast of restoration commitments, actions, and First Nations, Inuit and Metis priorities across Canada and major global restoration agreements and targets.
- Track progress towards WWF-Canada’s Regenerate Canada goals and targets using established indicators, and actively support a culture of accountability for execution and results.
- From time-to-time, serve as WWF-Canada’s liaison on global issues and initiatives relevant to restoration as part of WWF International network.
- Support WWF-Canada’s communications and fundraising efforts related to restoration.
- Represent WWF-Canada at external fora such as conferences and meetings, as assigned.
- Contribute to budgets, financial and progress reports, and forecasts.

**Qualifications**:

- 4+ years of professional experience in a related field such as ecosystem restoration, campaign building, partnership management, or similar.
- Completion of post-secondary education in Resource Management, Environmental Studies/Science, or other relevant area of study OR an additional 2+ years of related experience.
- Demonstrated experience cultivating partnerships and working in collaboration with local communities and various partners.
- General understanding of complex ecosystem restoration activities and strategies to support wildlife habitat, biodiversity, and ecosystem carbon and sinks such as forested lands, wetlands, and coastal zones.
- Experience in respectful collaboration and support for First Nations, Inuit, and Metis priorities.
- Experience in building coalitions and solutions to conservation challenges.
- Proven skills building and maintaining strategic partnerships and a track record of achieving results-based measurable outcomes.
- Indigenous language skills are an asset - in particular Inuktitut, Secwepemctsin, or Omushkego.
- Demonstrated understanding of WWF-Canada’s mission and objectives to Regenerate Canada, and a demonstrated passionate commitment to its success in accomplishing them.

**Other Information**:
Local and/or national travel will be required for this role to meet with partners, attend meetings, etc.
