Located 15 minutes west of Calgary, Edge’s 170,000 sq. ft. campus and sports facility is home to approximately 350 Grade 4-12 student-athletes enrolled in basketball, hockey, dance, golf, soccer figure skating, multi-sport, fitness or our flex academy. Edge School’s rigorous academic program is complemented by a focus on character development and athletics designed to develop ‘three-sphered individuals. Reporting directly to the Director of Athletics and Programming, the Hockey Skill Academy Coordinator is an integral member of the Hockey Program coaching staff. The coordinator will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Hockey Skill Academy program in addition to supporting our Edge School Hockey Team program as an Assistant Coach. The coordinator is responsible for the development of age and skill appropriate technical instruction and programming for individual student-athletes in alignment with the Edge’s Three Sphere model of personal excellence in academics, athletics and character development. The coordinator will assist in the identification, recruitment and on-boarding of Hockey Skill Academy students focusing on the growth of the overall hockey program. Furthermore, the coordinator will be a lead instructor for Edge Hockey Programming camps and clinics throughout the year, with a focus on spring and summer offerings.

**Key Accountabilities**

The responsibilities of the Hockey Skill Academy Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

- Hockey Skill Academy Coordinator_
- Supporting the growth and development of student-athletes in alignment with Edge School’s Three Sphere model of personal excellence in academic, athletic, and character development.
- Providing day-to-day leadership and instruction for the Hockey Skill Academy Program, including curriculum development and delivery of on-ice training and skill development.
- Responsible for the coordination of on-ice skill instructors to meet the Hockey Skill Academy curricular outcomes.
- Responsible for weekly updates to the Hockey Skill Academy parent group to support regular and on-going communication.
- Providing formal written feedback, specific hockey evaluations and updates to student-athletes and parents, in alignment with individualized development plans, throughout the year.
- Working in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and Programming on the development of annual Hockey Skill Academy budget.
- Responsible to manage program expenses within the parameters of the approved budget.
- Adhere to all pertinent governing body policies and procedures.
- Work in collaboration with the Director of Admissions to recruit and on-board appropriate student-athletes to the Hockey Skill Academy program.
- Work in conjunction with Edge Sports Science Team (Duckett Performance Centre Staff, Athletic Therapy Staff and Sport Psychologist) in the delivery of a student-athlete centric, inclusive, safe, and wholistic athlete development program.
- Work closely with teaching faculty to support the academic progress of student-athletes.
- Work in collaboration with assigned teaching staff in the delivery of the Edge Character Development curriculum.
- Direct supervision of student-athletes in your care, while on campus and during off-campus activities.
- Edge School Team Program_
- Work collaboratively with Edge School Hockey Coaching Staff to support the skill development of student-athletes in the team program.
- Regular and on-going on-ice coaching responsibilities in support of the Edge Hockey Team Program.
- Primary assistant coach of one Edge School hockey team.
- Support in the provision of formal feedback, specific hockey evaluations and updates to student-athletes and parents in alignment with individualized development plans throughout the year.
- Edge Programming_
- Act as a lead instructor for Edge Programming hockey camps, clinics, skill development sessions, etc.
- Work closely with the Coordinator of Athletics and Programming on the creation and delivery of a fulsome revenue generating hockey program offering.
- Education_
- A post-secondary degree/diploma or demonstrated experience in key accountabilities.
- Experience_
- Completion of, or progression towards, Hockey Canada IS3 (Instructional Stream 3) certification or completion of Hockey Canada Development 1.
- Combined 5 years of coaching, instruction and/or playing experience
- Understanding of the Hockey Canada’s LTPD
- Demonstrated understanding and appreciation for sport in an educational context
- Demonstrated ability
