**Reports to**: Wheelchair Sports Alberta High Performance Director

**Job Summary**

The Head Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and managing all aspects of the provincial para hockey team. This role involves creating training programs, overseeing player development, managing team staff, and preparing the team for competitions at the highest level, including national tournaments.

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Leadership & Development**: Provide coaching and mentorship to athletes, focusing on skill development, team strategy, and performance enhancement.
- **Training Program Management**: Develop and implement training plans and schedules tailored to the needs of para hockey athletes.
- **Competition Preparation**: Strategically prepare the team for provincial, national, and international competitions, ensuring optimal performance.
- **Staff Management**: Lead and coordinate assistant coaches, support staff, and volunteers to maintain a high-performance team environment.
- **Athlete Development**: Identify and nurture talent, ensuring a pathway for player growth, from grassroots to elite levels.
- **Team Culture**: Foster an inclusive, positive, and competitive team culture, emphasizing sportsmanship and teamwork.
- **Administrative Duties**: Oversee team logistics, including travel arrangements, equipment management, and communication with the provincial sports organization.
- **Stakeholder Engagement**: Work closely with athletes, families, support staff, and the para hockey community to ensure a cohesive approach to team development.

**Qualifications**
- Proven coaching experience, preferably in para hockey or similar adaptive sports.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of para hockey rules and best practices.
- Experience working with athletes with disabilities is an asset.
- Certification in coaching (e.g., NCCP) or willingness to pursue further coaching education.

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $150.00 per day
