Medical Transportation Driver

The purposes of this position are:
- To provide a safe and reliable transportation service to members of the Curve Lake First Nation in a confidential and conscientious manner.
- To aid individuals with limited capacity as well as respond to requests for assistance and direction from the Director of Health and Family Services.
**DUTIES**:
The duties and responsibilities of this position are categorized into two main functions:
- Administrative
- Must keep accurate records of his/her trips including daily recording of the odometer reading, regular scheduled and preventative maintenance is done regularly and ensure the vehicle is gassed up at the end of each working day
- Driver must submit a weekly report detailing trip expenditures and particulars to the Medical Transportation Clerk and assist with other program submission requirements
- Responsible for assisting with scheduling of client appointments
- All client complaints will be received in writing, properly signed and submitted to the Manager of Health and Family Services for action.

- Responsible for assisting clients who are physically challenged or may have mobility issues
- Responsible for ensuring clients arrive at their medical appointment in a timely manner
- Driver must not smoke nor be under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics while working for Curve Lake First Nation
- Driver will ensure all medical trips are from Curve Lake First Nation to a medical facility and return. They will not make any unauthorized stops during the medical trip unless approved by the Manager of Health and Family Services
- Performs such other duties as may reasonably be required by the Manager of Health and Family Services
**QUALIFICATIONS: (APPLICANTS MUST SHOW NECESSARY PROOF WITH APPLICATION OR WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY SCREENED OUT)**
**EDUCATION**:
- Minimum 2 years directly related work experience providing case management
- At minimum a College diploma in Social Services or related field with minimum 2 years related work experience, education and training may be considered
**RATED REQUIREMENTS**:
**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:
- Must possess a valid class “F” Ontario Driver’s License.
- Certified in CPR and First Aid, update as required.
- Basic Clerical skills.
- Driver must be physically fit to aid others, as may be required.
- Must have a clear Driver’s record and must be insurable.
- Must have a clear Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) and, Vulnerable Sector Screening Check (Current within 6 months).
- Flexible for work scheduling i.e. Early morning, evenings and occasional weekends.
- Knowledge of basic automotive mechanics.
- Driver will respect confidentiality and privacy of their passengers inclusive of the nature or purpose of the medical appointment.
- Knowledge of local and out of town medical facility locations.
- Knowledge and understanding of Native culture, tradition and teachings.
- Excellent scheduling and record keeping skills.
