The Fraser River Tidal Marsh Clean-up Field Crew Lead will meaningfully contribute to the health of wetlands in B.C. by supervising a crew of technicians in removing debris and garbage that has been deposited along the Fraser River tidal estuaries. Working with a field crew, the headquarters team, Indigenous communities, landowners, and project partners, the Field Crew Supervisor will play a key role in leading and managing the day-to-day, planning safe field operations throughout the Lower Mainland. Other duties and responsibilities may be added throughout the work term, based on project needs.
Work conditions will primarily be outdoors, in various weather conditions throughout the season, with wildlife encounters and insect activity likely. Work can be physically demanding, and applicants should be capable of and prepared to work on their feet for extended periods, in adverse conditions, and to regularly carry loads up to ~22 kg (50lb).
You will be expected to travel within the Lower Mainland to complete the duties of this position. Cities of travel may include Delta, Surrey, Tsawwassen, Richmond, and Ladner.

**Core Responsibilities**:
- Provide guidance, leadership and mentorship to field crew technicians and facilitate a positive work culture.
- Develop work plans and schedules for site clean-up with information from historic data and site visits.
- Remove debris and garbage from target areas in the Fraser River Estuaries.
- Follow data collection procedures to document the waste composition of the identified garbage and debris.
- Use ArcGIS field apps to collect and maintain accurate data on site progress, including spatial data outlining targeted areas.
- Coordinate procurement of field operations equipment and materials, and maintain all equipment as required and inventory records.
- Procure and coordinate contractors as required.
- Maintain regular communications with headquarters team and adhere to all safety protocols and check-in procedures.
- Ensure health and safety protocols are implemented and adhered to by Field Crew and respond to emergencies or incidents that may occur at work.
- Prepare technical reports and support the headquarters team with annual reports and grants documents.
- Engage with First Nations, landowners or property managers, students, project partners and public to promote collaboration efforts and understanding of wetlands, riparian areas, and floodplains.
- Perform other duties as directed by the FHREP Coordinator and the Director of Conservation Stewardship.

**Requirements**:
Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment, and be eligible to work in B.C.
**Work Experience**:
- A minimum of 1 year experience related to planning logistics, supervising staff, and project management.
- Experience managing and maintaining a safe workplace in an outdoor wilderness or backcountry environment.
- Experience leading, managing, and coaching a team.
- Experience working with a team to complete environmental field work.
- Experience with surveying, monitoring or data collection.
- Experience in garbage removal or shoreline clean-up is an asset.
- Experience with physical labor, such as landscaping or tree-planting is an asset.
**Education**:
- A technical diploma or a degree in the field of natural resource management (e.g. Ecological Restoration; Environmental Science; etc.) or equivalent knowledge and experience.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record, with experience driving long distances and on unmaintained roads.
- Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate or equivalent, or willingness to obtain prior to conducting fieldwork.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to schedule and delegate tasks on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with a positive professional attitude to work with the team and external stakeholders.
- Willing to travel frequently throughout the Lower Mainland.
