We have experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations, academic institutions, communities, municipalities, industry, and public sector organizations. We take a community-focused approach to design, deliver, and evaluate projects with impact. Through meaningful and collaborative relationships with our clients, Ballad aims to empower people, communities, and businesses across Canada.
Ballad works closely with Cascade Projects Ltd., an Indigenous-owned and controlled company based in Calgary. Through this strategic partnership, our two companies work collaboratively to assist industry with initiatives such as Indigenous engagement, economic inclusion, and cultural awareness training.
**The Opportunity**
We are seeking a professional facilitator with proven experience collaborating with diverse individuals and groups, building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and Indigenous rights holders, and guiding engagement design, execution, and follow-up.
This is a dynamic opportunity to contribute to our growing team in either Edmonton or Calgary This role will play a pivotal part in providing expertise in project execution, project coordination, and business development. As an Indigenous Engagement Facilitator, you will be responsible for designing and delivering engagement programs in support of community development, strategic planning, and reconciliation initiatives, as well as writing reports and delivering presentations related to this work. You will also work closely with Ballad’s management team to identify new business opportunities in these areas and contribute to innovative proposals tailored to meet the unique needs of prospective clients.
To better serve clients and deliver engagement services. Travel is a regular component of this role; a valid driver’s license required.
Lived or professional experience working with Indigenous communities is an important element of this role. Preference may be given to those who self-identify as Indigenous.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Project Execution_
- Design and deliver engagement programs addressing diverse topics for a variety of audiences, with particular focus on Indigenous clients and participants.
- Advise teammates on the incorporation and delivery of engagement components within larger consulting initiatives.
- Ensure engagement projects are delivered on schedule and on budget.
- Communicate clearly with team members and senior management to plan for client and project expectations.
- Recommend opportunities for project improvement.
- Contribute to report writing as part of service delivery.
- Project Coordination_
- Work with the project delivery team to ensure resources and tools are in place to effectively deliver engagement projects.
- Manage project task allocation, work plans, and deliverables.
- Ensure effective and consistent communication with external stakeholders and clients.
- Support the leadership team by providing regular updates, completing internal reporting using project management tools, and working collaboratively to identify areas of improvement.
- Business Development_
- Provide recommendations to the leadership team regarding competitive service offerings.
- Support and build relationships with existing clients.
- Lead the development of consulting proposals and design engagement programs tailored to meet the needs of prospective clients.

**Required Skills and Experience**
- A post-secondary degree in a social science, Indigenous studies, or other relevant field; or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Five or more years of relevant work experience
- Advanced skills in facilitation and the design and delivery of engagement processes
- Lived or professional experience working with Indigenous communities
- Comprehensive understanding of Treaty Rights and relationships, associated legislation, and the regulatory environments relevant to Indigenous communities
- Experience delivering projects with a focus on Indigenous relations
- Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Experience working in a client-facing role with a high level of professionalism
- Exceptional communication skills, adept at managing difficult conversations, and facilitating discussion of sensitive issues.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure, manage multiple projects
