Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home is seeking an Assistant Director of Care who is committed to providing exceptional resident care and is dedicated to the NHNH Mission of enriching lives with dignity, care and compassion.

**Position Qualifications**
- University Degree BScN - Registered Nurse currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum five years related experience, preferably with at least two years of that experience in Long-Term Care, or equivalent to that combination.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Strong computer skills including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the Residents Bill of Rights and The Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act Ontario Regulation 246-22
- Demonstrated assessment, critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills.
- Must have excellent facilitation, leadership, and mentoring skills. Proven ability to mentor staff, including registered nursing and students.
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and leadership development
- Good knowledge of Long-term Care inspection and compliance protocols as well as Accreditation processes and Required Organizational Practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the Ability to adapt to a continually changing environment and workload.
- Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and work effectively with all interdisciplinary members of the health care team
- Excellent Attendance record.

**Position Duties and Responsibilities**
- Working alongside the Director of Care, responsible for the smooth operation of the Long-Term Care Home.
- Provides leadership to staff, and significantly contributes in overseeing all components of resident care.
- Ensures a safe and caring environment for residents and their families.
- Applies sound human resource management practices (recruitment, development, and performance evaluation) in accordance with approved policies to ensure an effective team.
- Provides regular feedback to staff and conducts performance appraisals
- Advocates for change within the Home and fostering an environment that is person-centered, proactive, and open to new ideas.
- Supports and facilitates the implementation and evaluation of mandatory programs under the Fixing Long-term Care Homes act including skin and wound, falls, pain, restraints, and continence
- Follows up on the outcomes of audit programs as they related to Nursing Best Practices and Quality Improvement in delivery of care to the Residents and Ministry of Long-Term Care Inspection Protocols
- Manages projects and activities required for the successful completion of approved goals and objectives and supervises staff working on the projects.
- Participates in strategic planning and leads change initiatives, FLTCHA requirements, and accreditation activities.
- Participates and assists the Director of Care in the development of the annual nursing budget.
- Responsible for oversight of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and ensuring compliance with Ministry of Labour inspections.
- Initiates investigative and corrective actions related to occupational health and safety; develops and monitors modified work programs for nursing personnel in collaboration with the Occupational Health and Disability Management Team.
- Liaises with the Occupational Health and Disability Management Team with respect to workplace accommodations and the return to work process
- Responsible for the Surge Learning LMS platform and functions as a super-user to ensure on-line education is effective, efficient, and accessible for all staff.
- Assists in recruiting, training, and onboarding of new staff ensuring they are equipped to perform their duties to the highest standards.
- Leads clinical programs including, identifying learning needs and coordinates both educational and developmental opportunities for staff.
- Participates and supports budget planning and the capital purchasing process
