Community Economic Development Coordinator

The Community Economic Development Coordinator will promote the Municipality of Kincardine as a place for investment, growth, and development. As a main point of contact, this position will establish relationships with the local and external community in order to support ongoing economic priorities.

**Reporting To**:Manager of Strategic Initiatives
**Responsibilities**:
1. Primary contact and liaison with prospective and existing businesses or developers that may need assistance with site locations, understanding municipal procedures and regulations, labour force and economic/statistical data
2. Recommend, promote, and oversee the implementation of key policies, programs and services that support the economic priorities of the Municipality
3. Provide advice to representatives of local groups, the BIA and Chamber of Commerce for activities, promotions and events that align with the community and economic development role
4. Establish relationships with representatives of the local and external community, county and local municipalities, industry organizations and government staff to identify opportunities that support the economic priorities of the Municipality
5. Develop a welcoming business environment that promotes collaboration and creation of networking opportunities to bring businesses together
6. Contribute to the development of the Housing Action Plan and responsible for oversight of identified actions; understand and identify housing and transportation needs of the community to assist in the creation of the program strategy
7. Contribute to the development and implementation of the Economic Development Strategic Plan and Action List with input from relevant stakeholders
8. Conduct research and read a variety of communications to stay abreast of local, provincial, and global social economic trends
9. Assist in the development of the Economic Development budget, monitor budget performance, and manage projects within the allocated budget
11. Research and evaluate potential new initiatives based on best practices, emerging trends, innovation, and process improvement
12. Develop, produce, and maintain promotional materials for the municipality’s economic development strategy in both printed and electronic forms
13. Develop surveys for statistical purposes and analyze results
14. Develop a Community Improvement Plan (CIP) for the Municipality
15. Work with the local real estate community to assist with business continuity
16. Adhere to Municipality of Kincardine corporate policies and procedures
17. Complete other duties as assigned by Management
**Education & Experience Requirements**:
- Post-Secondary education in Public Administration, Marketing, Planning, Economics, or a related discipline
- Economic Development designation and/or demonstrated additional post-graduate courses focused on Economic Development is considered an asset
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a related discipline
**Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies**:
- Understanding of municipal affairs, business principles and market, statistical analysis and a good knowledge of marketing and business promotion
- Demonstrated ability to interact with elected officials, developers, local businesses, public and colleagues with diplomacy and tact
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment to approach community development
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or fact
- Flexible and positive approach and initiative to complete assignments to achieve results
- A demonstrated work history that highlights teamwork and a positive attitude
- Strong computer system skills
**Employment Information**:
- 2 Year Contract, Full-Time Position
- 35 Hours per Week
- Meetings on evenings and weekends may be required
- 2025 Compensation = Group 9 (Step 1 $35.89/hr - Step 5 $44.86/hr)
