**The Opportunity**:
**Responsibilities**:

- International Freight Management: Plan, direct, and coordinate all aspects of international freight movements into North America, including ocean, air, and ground transportation.
- Carrier Negotiation and Management: Identify, evaluate, and negotiate contracts with international freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to secure competitive rates and service levels.
- Customs Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all relevant North American customs regulations, trade agreements, and documentation requirements. Manage the customs clearance process effectively and proactively address any potential issues.
- Supply Chain Optimization: Analyze international supply chain processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and risk mitigation. Implement and monitor optimization initiatives.
- Vendor Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with international suppliers, vendors, and logistics partners.
- Shipment Tracking and Visibility: Establish and maintain robust tracking systems to provide real-time visibility of international shipments. Proactively communicate any delays or disruptions and implement corrective actions.
- Inventory Management Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Procurement, Warehouse, Sales) to ensure seamless integration of inbound international freight with inventory management and distribution processes.
- Documentation and Reporting: Oversee the accurate preparation and maintenance of all international shipping documentation, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and customs declarations. Generate regular reports on key logistics metrics.
- Problem Solving: Effectively address and resolve any issues related to international shipments, including delays, damages, customs holds, and invoicing discrepancies.
- Team Collaboration (if applicable): Lead, mentor, and develop a team of logistics professionals (if the role involves direct reports).
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in international logistics. Recommend and implement best practices to enhance the company's global supply chain.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field. An advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CITT, APICS) is an asset.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in logistics management, with a significant focus on international freight operations into North America.
- Demonstrable deep understanding of North American customs regulations, import/export procedures, and trade compliance.
- Proven experience negotiating and managing contracts with international freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers.
- Strong knowledge of different modes of international transportation (ocean, air, ground) and their specific requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in using logistics software and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.
