Central Services- Facility Coordinator

**Position Overview**:
Living Sky School Division is seeking a dedicated and experienced Facilities Coordinator to join our leadership team. This critical role ensures the maintenance and safe operation of our school facilities, while providing training and support to caretakers to elevate their technical skills. The Facilities Coordinator uses their expertise to ensure our schools are well-maintained, energy-efficient, and safe for students, staff, and visitors.

The division’s 28 schools are in 19 communities located throughout west central Saskatchewan. The main office is in the city of North Battleford. The city offers easy access to several beautiful lakes, and together with the town of Battleford, is home to about 18,000 people.
The school division is reinventing itself for the future and transitioning to a new organizational structure and way of operating (processes and culture). This is a major change for the organization and a shift from the way a typical school division operates. This shift will continue over the next few years and will require people who are dedicated to the journey to make it happen
**Key Accountabilities of the Facilities Coordinator**:
1. Preventative Maintenance Planning
Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans to ensure school buildings remain in optimal condition.
2. Caretaker Support and Training
Provide technical training and guidance to caretakers.
Support caretakers in areas such as chemicals, equipment, and advanced skills.
Assist with hiring, orientation and ongoing professional development for caretakers.
3. Ensuring Safety and Compliance
Monitor Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) compliance across schools.
Advise caretakers on identifying and addressing unsafe work environments.
4. Collaboration and Project Management
Oversee contractor-led projects, ensuring quality and adherence to deadlines.
Coordinate with caretakers, tradespeople, and school administrators to complete projects efficiently.
Collaborate with facility renters (ie. daycares) to maintain strong relationships.
Support principals in evaluating and appraising caretaker performance.
5. Operational Efficiency
Develop and manage an efficient work schedule, prioritizing tasks effectively.
Research and recommend energy-saving opportunities for the division.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
**Education**:
Fifth Class Power Engineering certificate or Journeyperson certification in a building-related trade.
WHMIS certification.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
**Experience**:
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Power Engineer or as a Trades Journeyperson.
Experience in commercial or industrial building maintenance is an asset.
Experience in leading projects and training and developing staff would be a valuable asset for this position

Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in using software for managing maintenance work.
Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and self-manage tasks.
Exceptional communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
