**Job Description for Policy & Data Specialist**
Position Title: Policy & Data Specialist
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
**Salary**: Competitive Range is $24 to $28 per hour
**Job Summary**
Working within Apex’s core values, the Policy & Data Specialist will be responsible for developing, reviewing and maintaining organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with legal regulations, industry standards, and internal goals. This role collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer to identify areas for improvement, streamline processes, and ensure that all documentation is accurate, accessible, and reflective of best practices.
The Policy & Data Specialist would also be responsible for managing, analyzing, and interpreting data to support strategic decision-making. This role focuses on developing and maintaining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor business performance, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to collect accurate data, build reports, and provide actionable insights to drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement. This would include the maximization of systems and technology to standardize metrics to be used to create a management compensation framework.
**Job Duties**
1. Development:
- Collaborate with Executive Leaders to identify policy needs.
- Research and consultation activities including; telephone interviews, one-on-one interviews, questionnaire design and survey development, etc.
- Research existing data collections, compilations, and/or reporting methodologies.
- Support with business plan development.
- Write and publish detailed reports, training manuals and policies.
2. Implementation:
- Undertake web and literature research to develop and implement products, policies, procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Work with legal and compliance standards to ensure policies mitigate risk and promote a safe, fair workplace.
- Preparation of draft reports and including content review and preparation, formatting and presentation enhancement, etc.
- Plan, organize and lead projects related to research, policy, training, and implementation within specified timelines and budgets.
3. Training:
- Create, implement, and maintain digital and in-person training programs and modules (e-learning, video training, interactive quizzes, etc.) that are accessible and effective for all staff.
- Design, develop and update training manuals and other educational materials for all levels of staff.
- Collaborate with other departments (HR, Senior Managers and Administrators) to collect data and feedback necessary for developing policies and training manuals and ensuring training content is practical, accurate and applicable.
- Customize training content for different property types (eg. residential, commercial, non-profit, coops) and levels of management.
- Provide training to staff as required.
4. Evaluation:
- Collect feedback and monitor effectiveness of implemented training, policies and procedures.
- Provide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) updates and reports to senior leaders.
5. Revision:
- Review, update and verify the contents of current policy and program documentation, and replace as directed.
- Analyze existing web page and improve as required.
- Ensure proper data storage and retention of reports, policies and procedures with integrity and security.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Education and Experience**:
- Post Secondary education in relevant field combined with 3+ years of working experience in a related research field.
- Proficient with web design, policy development and digital literature searches, synthesizing data and analysis.
- In-depth understanding of the non-profit housing industry and property management regulations.

**Work Conditions**
- Interacts with all staff, Senior Managers, Human Resources, Executives Team, Government, Partners and Consultants.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting and lifting.
- Primarily home office based with occasional travel to property sites with flexible working hours
- May require occasional evening or weekend hours for project deadlines.
