**MANAGER OF FINANCIAL SERVICES**

St. Albert Public Schools, a publicly funded jurisdiction that serves approximately 9,200 students in 16 schools, is seeking a self-motivated individual to work in a fast paced school business central office work environment.

**Hours of Work**:35 hrs/week; 7 hrs/day

**Salary**:$130,000 per annum

**Start Date**:To be determined

**EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS***
- CPA designation is preferred.
- Five years experience in a progressive accounting and finance role, with at least two years in a senior management role is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in business and financial operations.
- Knowledge of appropriate statutes within the province and governmental legislation.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and judgement skills.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to be flexible, adapt to change, respond to employees in a positive and friendly manner and to deal effectively with emergencies and complex situations.
- Ability to create meaningful, systemic and sustainable change.
- Ability to make reasoned decisions and ability to recognize sensitive situations and potential solutions.
- Ability to meet deadlines, build an effective team and work with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**

This position works under the constant pressure of deadlines. A high level of accuracy and speed is required in dealing with complex situations complicated by frequent interruptions to provide information to management, staff and outside agencies. Confidentiality is of the upmost importance.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES***

**Auditing, Financial and Reporting**
- Day to day accounting operations of the division, ensuring accuracy of all financial information and reporting. Maintain and ensure the accuracy of all interfaces into the general ledger.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reports, including audited financial statements, related government reports and other financial reports needed by senior administration, schools and various departments or as required by the associate superintendent of finance.
- Ensure the supervisor, manager and school leaders are provided with timely and accurate financial reports to track revenues and expenditures.
- Coordinate the annual audit conducted by board appointed external auditors.
- Advise the associate superintendent of finance of the financial implications of major considerations.
- Capital asset accounting, reporting and reconciliation.
- Develop and maintain the chart of accounts which meets changing and multiple needs for stakeholders’ information and reporting.
- Ensure all funding and revenue due to the division are received and property recorded.
- Oversee and administer the purchasing of goods and services by the division.
- Monitor cash flow and short term investments.
- Collaborate with senior administration, schools and departments to establish effective financial processes, procedures and controls across the division.
- Supervise and support the administration of the payroll system.

**Budgeting**
- Prepare the division budget.
- Interface budget information into the accounting system to enable administration to track spending against the approved budget.
- Assist school and department leaders with the preparation and management of their budgets.

**Personnel Management and Other Duties**
- Supervise, train and support finance department staff.
- Direct and coordinate staff priorities to meet department objectives.
- Manage and maintain the division’s enterprise resource planning software (PowerSchool, atrieveERP).
- Support the associate superintendent of finance with insurance and risk management.
- Participate in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of board policies and administrative procedures within area of responsibility.
- Other related duties as assigned by the associate superintendent of finance.
