- What you’ll be doing

As part of the CIBC Commercial Banking and Wealth Management Governance & Control team, you will provide support to the business in consulting on effective management of material, systemic and emerging operational, strategic and business risks. A key aspect of the role is to execute all key control testing activities for CIBC Wood Gundy, Private Banking, Commercial Banking, CPIC and CIBC Trust, in order to ensure adherence to the CIBC Control Program, while effectively managing the risk profile of the business and at the same time keeping the client experience top-of-mind. The incumbent will be a collaborative, hands-on consultant in dealing with executives and key partners on risks, key controls and/or deficiencies related to existing processes, policies, projects, and new initiatives.
- How you’ll succeed
- Leadership - Take leadership in implementing the key control testing activities for Wood Gundy, and other Wealth Management and Commercial Banking businesses and products as required;
- Monitoring Activities - Monitor the work/activities of others within Wood Gundy frontline offices and other Wealth Management and Commercial Banking businesses and products as required, to ensure adherence with all CIBC and LOB governance requirements;
- Compliance - Follow up and ensure the successful implementation of action plans to close identified Internal Audit and Compliance deficiencies as required
- Communicate - Effectively communicate with internal partners and regulators, including investigations and preparation of correspondence.
- Be Proactive - Identify opportunities to elevate our fraud risk practices, make processes more efficient and take the time to see them through to fruition.
- Who you are
- You can demonstrate experience in full-service brokerage/investment firms.
- Ideally, you have a strong understanding of internal control, risk management, regulatory compliance, operating procedures, and key process standards. Successful completion of the following courses is an asset but not a requirement: Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Conduct & Practices Handbook (CPH), Branch Managers Course (BMC).
