**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Clinical Support Services, the Long Term Care Quality and Compliance Specialist is responsible and accountable for ensuring quality and compliance with the Ministry directions across the Long Term Care (LTC) homes.
**Education**:
- Post-Secondary degree in Nursing, Dietary, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology.
- Must hold a current certificate of registration in good standing in one of the following; Nursing, Dietitian, Physiotherapist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Speech Language Pathologist with no restrictions on practice in the Province of Ontario.
- Adult Learning Certificate preferred
**Knowledge**:
- At least 3 years of current related experience in a Long Term Care Home.
- At least 3 years of current related experience in Leadership and/or Long-Term Compliance Inspection.
- Expert knowledge of the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021 and Regulations 246/22.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of electronic documentation software.
- Knowledge of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Homes Act and Regulations; Occupational Health and Safety Act; and the Accreditation Process
- Proficiency in developing systems to audit electronic medical records and the clinical care indicators contained within.
**Responsibilities**:
- Investigate, assess and analyze compliance of Niagara Region’s eight (8) long-term care homes to the Fixing Long-Term Care Act of 2021 and Reg. 246/22 and Niagara Region policies and programs _(40% of time).
- Manage, coordinate and implement the infection control program for the LTC Home.
- Assess and evaluate programs and services in LTC Homes through a supportive approach that prioritizes quality outcomes and capacity building, leveraging education and “teachable moments.”
- Support resident safety incident processes and practices in the form of chart audits; interviews with staff, residents and families; and participation in root cause analyses; analysis of resident-related risk and safety trends; and collaborating in the development and implementation of action plans.
- Examine information and evaluate evidence from a variety of sources, including clinical files, policies and procedures, financial and administrative information, survey data, and observations of the physical environment.
- Support the LTC homes to establish an action plan to address identified gaps.
- Collaborate with LTC homes to develop and execute a post inspection plan, including managing relevant documents and information.
- Provide technical support in the management of high-risk critical incidents.
- Verify all compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, policies and directives through observation, sampling and other testing methodologies to support the non-compliance.
- Analysis of Critical Incident submissions, present trend analysis and gap identification to homes.
**_Communicate inspection reports, provide technical expertise and direction to support enhanced outcomes, capacity building and consistent compliance with the legislation _(30% of time)**:
- Write inspection report and communicate the results of inspections to stakeholders including the LTC leadership team.
