**Director of Facility Services**

Location: Red Deer, AB

**Position Overview**

Red Deer Public Schools is seeking a dynamic **Director of Facility Services** for a full-time position (37.50 hours per week) to lead the strategic management of our building systems and infrastructure across 27 facilities in the City of Red Deer. This key leadership role requires a forward-thinking professional with strong technical expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to inspire innovation and excellence in facility operations.

Reporting to the Secretary Treasurer, the Director of Facility Services is responsible for overall facility operations, maintenance, planning, and budgeting to ensure safe, efficient, and well-maintained school environments that support learning today and into the future.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and oversee budgets, projects, and initiatives that enhance operational excellence in facility services
- Lead facility planning, construction, renovations, and modernization projects, ensuring compliance with all regulations and codes
- Provides leadership and mentorship to the Facilities team, fostering collaboration and professional development
- Administer capital and maintenance programs, and prepare related government reports
- Coordinate energy management initiatives and joint use agreements
- Oversee recruitment, training, and evaluation of maintenance, caretaking, and contract personnel
- Ensure health, safety, and emergency preparedness programs are implemented and maintained
- Liaise with school administrators, government agencies, contractors, and internal departments
- Provide technical guidance on maintenance, upgrades, and new construction to the Board and senior leadership
- Maintain comprehensive preventative maintenance programs and monitor performance of facilities, grounds, and equipment
- Perform regular facility inspections and prepare reports on conditions and improvements

**Education & Experience**
- Professional Engineering Designation P.Eng, AGEGA member (Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or related Technical Diploma)
- Business and leadership certifications or degrees will be considered an asset
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License
- Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience in Facilities Management
- Proven expertise in overseeing building systems including HVAC, security, and accessibility
- Experience in supervisory or management roles, preferably within a school division or public sector
- Strong knowledge of contract management, budgeting, construction standards, and occupational health and safety
