The Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services has significant oversight and involvement in the public security and emergency services through its various divisions and operations. The department is responsible for the administration of law enforcement, correctional services, policing and police oversight and public safety. The Ministry supports crime prevention and restorative justice programs, as well as programs and services to support victims of crime, including those affected by domestic violence and human trafficking.

The Ministry also coordinates large scale emergency and disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery programs and initiatives.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Coordinator, the position repairs, installs, maintains, alters and renovates within several correctional facilities and buildings at Spyhill Complex. Performs administrative and project planning tasks such as preparing labour and material estimates and interacting with contractors. The position also supports the operation
and maintenance of a wide variety of renovation, maintenance and some new construction.

The incumbent works independently on a wide variety of building systems in conjunction with the client department. The incumbent is responsible to ensure that all day-to-day building operations are performed in an effective, efficient manner, carefully adhering to all Infrastructure and industry accepted standards.
- Implements daily work tasks including preventative maintenance.

**Qualifications**:
Carpenter 2 : Journeyperson level carpenter certification and 1 year of experience at the Journeyperson level.

Experience or knowledge that will be considered and asset:

- High school diploma.
- Experieince with cabinet making.
- Good interpersonal communication and correspondence skills to manage tenant/client services, receiving direction and exchanging technical information.
- Performs maintenance tasks requiring coordination and planning.
- Use of hand and power tools equipment of different levels in a complex facilities environment. Working knowledge of operation and maintenance of building systems.Minimum recruitment standards outline the minimum education and experience required for appointment to a job classification.
