Our team has been involved in a long list of M&A deals and has experience in the operational management of large-scale businesses.

This position can be in Vancouver, BC, or Gatineau QC.

**Description**:
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing new suppliers, processing procurement transactions, and maintaining raw materials, inventory, packaging components, supplies, and products. The Procurement Specialist will also be responsible for developing supplier metrics, implementing, and improving purchasing systems and workflows, and ensuring timely deliveries while resolving any supply issues or discrepancies.

**General Responsibilities**:

- Build and strengthen relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable pricing and terms.
- Preparing proposals, requesting quotes, and negotiating purchase terms and conditions.
- Source new vendors for supplies and products as needed.
- Prepare purchase orders or bid requests, searching for the most competitive bid.
- Organize and process monthly inventory counts.
- Scheduling domestic and oversea shipments of raw materials and packaging components in accordance with the production schedule.
- Contact vendors with discrepancies pertaining to quantity and quality.
- Partner with department/office managers to clarify purchase requisitions, identify departmental needs, and refine qualifications for future orders; clarify internal purchasing procedures.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels in the company’s perpetual inventory tracking system.
- Develop and maintain freight rate databases to determine the most economical modes of transportation and the most efficient routing across the company’s operations and customers.
- Responsible for generating, distributing, and maintaining all purchasing & logistics-related KPIs using internal and external sources.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned by management.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum of 1-year experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining effective purchasing and logistics processes.
- Experience with global logistics, freight forwarding, duty, and customs requirements.
- Good working knowledge of purchasing processes and strategies.
- Experience with inventory management strategies (Kanban, Lean, JIT inventory) is an asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated and takes ownership of the role and responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics is an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with strong organizational skills and a positive attitude.
