The Technical Writer is a key member of the Thales SafeNet Trusted Access (STA) team, which develops a complete Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution.

The Technical Writer works closely with software developers, verification engineers, product managers, and technical support staff to gather, organize, and present technical information in a task-based format that is easy to use, navigate, and search.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Work in an Agile Scrum environment with developers, testers, and product managers to document product features, bug fixes, and enhancements as they are developed.
- Organize the content and format of the documentation, focusing on usability and maintainability.
- Organize documentation reviews and incorporate review feedback in the documentation.
- Assume the role of the customer and make recommendations to improve the usability and overall user experience of the products you are documenting.
- Become an expert user of the products you are documenting so that you can teach others how to use them.
- Provide regular status updates regarding the progress of your tasks, including immediate notification of any impediments which may impact your deliverables.
- Assist with migration of content between documentation tools/content management systems and investigate automation methods for the process.
- Collaborate with external employees to discuss editorial and structural recommendations.

**Required Skills & Experience**:

- A university degree in English, Science, or Engineering, and enrollment in a Technical Writing program. Familiarity with security protocols, networking, and the software development life cycle is desirable.
- Must be an organized self-starter with strong writing skills and the ability to work effectively, both in teams and as an independent contributor.
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Able to work in a fast-paced Agile Scrum environment.
- Able to adapt to changing requirements.
- Able to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
- Able to collect, filter, and organize large volumes of information to meet the documentation requirements of specific audiences.
- Able to present ideas and concepts to groups.
- Able to host and lead documentation review meetings.
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Madcap Flare.
- Strong working knowledge and experience with open-source documentation tools.
- Experience with HTML and markdown.
- Experience with Git.
- Familiarity with JIRA, or similar project-tracking software.
- Working knowledge of Windows, Linux/UNIX operating systems.
- Familiarity with graphic tools such as Microsoft Windows Snipping Tool, Madcap Capture, and Figma.

**Preferred Skills and Experience**:

- Familiarity with Agile/SAFe methodology.
- Proven ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
- Familiarity with security and identity management (access management, authentication, identity providers).
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
