Skilled Sheet Metal Worker

Blue Army Contractors Inc. is a London, Ontario established and situated contractor, exceling at waterproofing and building envelope repairs/restoration. We primarily work on high rise multi-residential and commercial buildings located in London, Sarnia, Guelph, and Kitchener.

We are seeking a Skilled Sheet Metal Skilled Worker eager to achieve their full potential in the construction industry, reporting to the Sheet Metal Foreperson.

**Environment**:
The Skilled Sheet Metal Worker is responsible for fabricating flashings and water shedding details in the BAC metal shop with the Foreman/Supervisor or team crew members. Installation of flashings and water shedding details on job sites. They may be required to work on tasks such as waterproofing, insulating and ballasting, and/or green roof installation.

This role is best suited to construction professionals with knowledge of building envelope construction and the OHSA and MLITSD regulations.

**Responsibilities**:

- Be or become proficient in the understanding of fabricating “S” locks and flashings with gang slitters and universal bench brakes.
- Understanding of cleats, reglets and standing seam corners.
- Experience in waterproofing and flat roofing is an advantage.
- Installation or parapet canter build ups and sheet waterproofing (Blueskin)
- Report any non-functioning equipment, or tools, to the Foreperson to guarantee operational efficiency and safety.
- Adhere to instructions from the foreperson and Project Manager diligently, and don’t hesitate to ask questions if anything is unclear or requires clarification to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Provide work-related insight and feedback to the Foreperson to ensure informed decision-making and effective project management.
- Inform the Foreperson of any project delays or unexpected situations that arise onsite.
- Cooperate with health and safety reps, joint health and safety committees, and worker trades committees. Provide information upon request.
- Safety transport materials and equipment to the designated work areas onsite, ensuring awareness of tower cranes and other ongoing site activities to maintain smooth and secure operations.
- Utilize the required protective equipment and clothing, and adhere to manufacturer’s instructions to maintain safety and compliance on the job site.
- Attend toolbox talk meetings, as conducted by the Foreperson.
- Strictly adhere to the company health and safety program, and consistently follow established policies, procedures, and safe work practices to maintain a secure and compliant work environment.
- Notify the Foreperson of any work-related injuries.
- Participate in employee and site-specific orientations, training, and meetings.
- Cooperate with MLITSD representatives, joint health and safety committees, and worker trade committees to ensure compliance, enhance safety standards, and promote a cooperative working environment.
- Represent the company to the public appropriately.
- Maintain a team environment by working with Foreperson and crew members to overcome work challenges.
- Report to your scheduled shift location on time.
- Other duties as may be assigned.

**Qualifications**
- 2+ years experience in a construction role.
- Current Working at Heights Training
- WHMIS
- MLITSD Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4-Steps
- Physically fit and able to lift 50lbs safely.

**Pay Rate**:
Ranging from $23.00-$29.00/hr. Wages are competitive and are determined based on qualifications and experience.
