Requisition ID: 155731 Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture. **Purpose** Supports the global business strategy and ensures that human resources strategies and programs align with the overall goals, values and Human Resources philosophies of the Bank’s and of Canadian Banking groups: Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Tangerine and all Head office teams. **Accountabilities** - Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. - Participates as a strategic partner and advisor to senior management teams in Canadian Banking business unit, contributing to the development of short - and long-term strategies; takes a lead role in determining the major HR implications of those strategies, balancing business perspective with the needs of individual employees and alignment with the Bank’s and HR objectives. - Identifies and leads the implementation of HR programs, influencing strategic change, by: - maintaining an awareness of future/emerging trends and best practices in HR and through ongoing liaison with HR peers within and outside the Scotiabank Group; - conducting initial diagnostic assessments/needs analyses of business objectives; - developing and championing comprehensive recommendations for solutions to Executives and senior management teams; - assigning resources, establishing project leaders and core teams, defining roles, tasks and expectations; and, - monitoring HR programs and processes to ensure they meet the stakeholders’ future needs and deliver intended outcomes. - Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicate the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams. - Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. - Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team. **Education, Experience and Other Required** - 10-15 Years’ experience creating and executing on HR Strategy - Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related discipline - Deep knowledge and understanding of multiple HR disciplines such as talent management, performance management, organizational design, change management and compensation - Deep knowledge and understanding of the Bank’s business objectives, policies, culture and internal operating environment - Deep knowledge of current and emerging trends within the financial services industry and implications from an HR perspective - Highly skilled strategic thinking and strategic relationship building competencies along with high intuition and forward-thinking capacity - Well-developed change leadership capability with customer focus and execution skills to ensure the successful delivery/implementation of initiatives - Strong coaching capability to foster and develop a strong team environment and individual capability **Working Conditions** Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
