**Position Summary**
- Chrysalis is a registered non-profit organization that offers personalized services designed to meet the needs of people with disabilities while providing meaningful opportunities for growth and community inclusion. Our programs are always evolving and changing to meet the needs of those we serve through principles of Human Centred Design (HCD). _
- The Program Assistant will report directly to the Recreation Coordinator and is supported by a multidisciplinary team of professionals. The Program Assistant is uniquely positioned to support in the planning, development and implementation of community access recreational programs. _
- FTE - 35 hrs/week_

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Participating in Human-Centred Design (HCD) and other Programs and Services. This includes working with the Programs and Innovations Specialists in developing HCD plans and updating goals.
- Develop, coordinate and implement lesson plans within an 8-week model utilizing Human Centred Design (HCD) principles.
- Support and guide Programs & Services staff using knowledge and expertise to facilitate and promote inclusive programming.
- Support in the coordination and implementation of special events and recreation internally and in the community.
- Assessing and reporting on the progress made, barriers, and opportunities for improvement in the areas of MyCompass and Chrysalis Plans (i.e. quality of life plans, planned positive procedures).
- Support Programs & Services staff in frontline operations including supporting people accessing service and program implementation.
- Assist in program assessments by utilizing existing tools and implementing new and creative tools.
- Be aware of and follow established policies, practices, operational protocols, ethical standards and guidelines, and medical protocols or standing orders related to medication and other remedies.
- Work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Mentor staff about physical, mental, social, and emotional health benefits of participating in recreation and leisure activities

Specific skill areas to be learned/developed by the student
- Communicate in a professional, timely, accurate, and respectful manner with individuals, families, guardians, staff, and community representatives.
- Work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure methods are in alignment with best practice and current research in Adapted Physical Activity.
- Participating in and contributing throughout the intake process, gaining familiarity and knowledge with governmental and Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) funding support model.
- Develop an understanding of the quality of life framework utilizing the 8 domains to inform programming.
- Support people accessing service to be meaningfully independent through a process-focused programming model while working towards their goals.
- Gain experience and understanding in recreational program coordination and implementation in the field of Adapted Physical Activity.
- Participate in professional development opportunities including training and workshops that enhance experience and skill.

Special Requirements:

- Experience supporting people with disabilities is preferred
- Possess or willing to obtain current First Aid certification
- Police Information Check - Vulnerable Sector
- Access to reliable transport

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week

Flexible Language Requirement:

- French not required

- Monday to Friday

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
