**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Clear, clean and maintain all entrances of the building in all seasons (sweeping or clearing snow)
- Water flower beds and maintain ponds.
- Asses problems that may arise in resident rooms and determine best approach to repair and resolve issue
- Small repairs to resident rooms as needed
- Shampoo carpets
- Assist with set up and take down of resident activities
- Repair and paint rooms as needed
- Repairs to rooms vacated by residents and prepare rooms for incoming residents
- Hang pictures
- Notify of any resident issues
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Maintain the outside of building in a safe and clean manner
- Follow all company policies and procedures including fire and safety programs
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned from time to time
- Remove and dispose of garbage and recycling from all garbage rooms daily
- Maintain stairwells & storage areas in a safe and clean manner
- Check maintenance book on a regular basis and address issues when necessary
- Maintain a high level of safety and security for residents, staff, visitors and guests
- Follow all company policies and procedures including fire and safety programs
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned from time to time
- Assist with internal moves as needed.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Previous maintenance/janitorial/grounds keeping experience, preferably in a retirement home.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to do extensive standing, walking, squatting, kneeling and moving heavy objects
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects and shovel snow.
- Ability to use motorized equipment (i.e. lawn mower, snow blower, rug shampooer).
- Must be willing to work as a team player and demonstrate a positive attitude.
- Must provide a police check.
- Must be able to complete Computer Based Learning (CBL) Modules on an ongoing basis
- Bilingualism is an asset.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $16.55 per hour
