Established in 1994, Century Private School has offered a safe, pleasant and nurturing environment for students from Montessori Kindergarten to secondary school. We are currently looking for an experienced Guidance Counsellor in our secondary school division.

Responsibilities will include:

- Provide personalized counselling and support for students and parents in planning for course pathways and post-secondary education;
- Provide support in course selection and time-tabling;
- Plan and facilitate guest speakers and school visits by University representatives
- Collaboration with Head of Elementary to support students' education pathway and transition to Secondary School;
- Monitor student progress toward OSSD requirements, including course credits, OSSLT and community involvement hours;
- Ensuring that all course credit information (waivers, substitutions, transcripts, etc.) is added to Ontario Student Records as needed;
- Timely submission of students course and grade information to the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC), Ontario College Application Service (OCAS);
- Provide orientation of new students;
- Communication with parents/guardians;
- Familiarity with student information system;
- Database maintenance - ONSIS, OUAC, OSTs, OSRs;
- Processing of credit counselling summaries, report cards and diplomas;
- Desire to seek opportunities that go above and beyond to contribute to a dynamic academic and co-curricular learning environment.

Experience & Other Requirements:

- 2 years experience in a counselling role;
- Experience teaching at Secondary school;
- Experience facilitating small group sessions would be an asset;
- Ontario Teaching Certificate (OCT) in good standing is a must;
- Maturity in dealing with and maintaining the confidentiality of student records and information;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, exemplary communication skills with parents, students, and co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner
- Commitment to the School's academic and co-curricular directions and the school's vision and mission;
- Enthusiastic, energetic, and able to foster unique learning experiences for students;
- Problem solver and solution provider when issues arise;
- Understand the needs of students and goes beyond the call of duty;
- Thrives in a positive team environment and easily adapts to new things;
- Able to strive in a collaborative, flexible and supportive team environment; and
- Knowledge of technologies that are consistent with ethical and responsible professional practices.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Pay: $35.00-$42.00 per hour
