**Job Overview**

Ontario Native Plants (ONP) is a division of Verbinnen’s Nursery. We sell native plants to the public through our website (onplants.ca) via a mail order system. The business began in 2017 and has been growing steadily each year. Verbinnen’s Nursery is a team-oriented workplace built on Christian foundations of integrity.

Our store opens for pre-orders in March and we begin shipping trees and shrubs mid-April, followed by perennials in May. We are looking for a Customer Service Representative to work with the manager to assist with customer service, the online store, and the pick up process. This is a seasonal position. The job is quite diverse and will see the movement from computer work to physical work regularly throughout the spring and summer.

In May and June, work hours are Monday to Friday 7:00 am - 5:30 pm, with a half day on Saturdays. During other months, the start and end times vary according to the list below:
**Monthly Schedule**:

- June _- 45-55
- July _- 45
- August _ - 40-45

**Location**

ONP is run out of a greenhouse on the property of Verbinnen’s Nursery, a wholesale nursery located just north of Hamilton, Ontario. We have a packing area, office, and an outdoor hoophouse where our plants live.

**Plant Shipping**

We ship our packages with Canada Post, and only within Ontario. We ship 5 days a week in 2025. During our peak season, we will be shipping around 100-150 boxes per day. We will be shipping from mid April until the end of September.

**Plant Pick Up**

We offer pick up for orders of 18+ plants at our nursery. The pick up process is entirely remote and does not involve in person customer service. We offer pick up on Wednesdays-Saturdays during our peak season (May & June) and Wednesdays-Fridays only during the other months (July, August, & September).

**Responsibilities**

The Customer Service Representative will assist the Manager with customer service throughout the season. They will also assist with the pick up process from start to finish, including printing pick up orders, arranging paperwork for the Pick Up Lead, and packing pick up orders daily from Wednesday-Friday. They will work directly with the Manager to ensure that the pick up process is running smoothly and our customers are happy with their experience.

**Office Work**
- Order delays or issues, including issuing coupon codes, and/or organizing refunds or reshipments
- Planting or ordering questions
- Technical difficulties on the website
- Communicating shipping times and plant updates to customers
- Printing order pick lists & invoices

**Physical Work**
- Packing pick up orders daily (Wednesday-Friday) and driving them to the shipping container
- Packing regular orders when time with the packing staff

**Qualifications**

The individual that we are looking for must possess:

- Strong communication and organization skills
- Strong typing and computer skills
- Customer service skills, 1-2 years of experience preferred
- Adaptability to work effectively in a team
- Friendly and approachable personality
- Keen aptitude for learning new software programs

Assets to the position include:

- Knowledge of and experience with native plants in the outdoor landscape
- Experience with website functionality
- Experience and interest in photography or videography (creation and editing)
- Starting Date_: April 14, 2025, until end of August 2025
- Starting Wage_: $22/hour, with overtime pay after 46 hours

Contract length: 4.5 months

Pay: $22.00 per hour
