**Reporting to**: CEO
**SUMMARY OF DUTIES**:
Join the Lílwat Business Group (LBG)—an arms-length economic development corporation of the Lílwat Nation. We support forestry, retail, construction, and business management operations employing 80-120 staff.
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead talent strategy, employee relations, policy development, and safety initiatives.
**KEY DELIVERABLES AND EXPECTATIONS**:
**Strategic Support and Talent Management**
- Provide guidance and support to business leaders on HR matters, including workforce planning, organizational structure, talent management, and employee engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with business leaders to identify staffing needs and develop strategies to attract and retain top talent.
- Recruitment and Onboarding
- Support business leaders throughout the recruitment process, including job postings, resume screening, scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, and preparing job offers.
- Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation sessions to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
- Employee Relations and Compliance
- Support employee relations initiatives by addressing employee concerns, conducting investigations, and providing guidance on company policies and procedures.
**Occupational Health and Safety**
- Certain business groups, such as Forestry Ventures, autonomously manage their OH&S protocols, whereas smaller business groups rely on additional OH&S support from the Human Resources department, working collaboratively with the senior team.
- Performance Management and Development
- Assist with performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and development plans.
- Coordinate training and development activities to enhance employee skills and competencies.
**HR Administration**
- Liaising with the payroll department, facilitate compensation and benefits administration, including salary surveys and salary ranges, job evaluations, and employee benefits programs.
- Maintain HR records and databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
**Legal Compliance and Policy Development**
- Stay updated on relevant employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance in all HR practices and policies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and initiatives to support the overall objectives of the organization.
**HR Leadership and Contractor Oversight**
- Oversee and provide leadership to the HR team, ensuring effective performance, development, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Manage and coordinate HR contractors (e.g. employment lawyer, HR consultants) to support key projects and initiatives.
**Budget and Grant Management**
- Develop, track, and adjust the HR budget to align with organizational goals, ensuring financial efficiency and accuracy.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, forecast HR needs, and adapt the budget as priorities shift.
- Support the preparation and submission of HR related grant proposals.
- Monitor and manage grant funds, ensuring compliance with funding guidelines and organizational policies.
**EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES**:
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in human resources roles
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and HRIS systems.
- Possession of the CPHR designation or actively pursuing the designation is considered an asset.
- Ability to provide a Clear Criminal Record Check
- Previous experience with First Nations preferred.
