Event Hosting Supervisor

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**:
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, support, and motivate a team of Hosts assigned to your zone, ensuring they are engaged, well-informed, and prepared to deliver excellent guest service;
- Deliver clear and engaging event-time staff briefings to provide direction and ensure your team is aligned on key information, assignments, and service expectations, and has the tools and information they need to provide exceptional guest experiences;
- Event-time briefings include zone specific requirements (i.e. gate setup, special activations, premium seating access, supporter groups) and specific event deliverable expectations;
- Support team members to perform their job responsibilities/duties in alignment with BC Place policies and procedures; provide feedback as required to assist in the development and growth of team members;
- Monitor and evaluate team member performance and, as required, provide constructive coaching to improve performance and ensure performance standards are met; capture appropriate documentation and provide to People & Culture;
- Acknowledge outstanding performance or accomplishments through Staff Recognition awards;
Guest Experience Management
- Greet and engage with guests during ingress, event time, and egress;
- Proactively identify issues and maintain a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for all guests;
- Provide guests with wayfinding and event information; educate guests on BC Place policies and code of conduct;
- Address and action on guest-related issues as they arise during an event; supporting the hosting team to proactively seek immediate resolutions; document and follow up as required;
- Support event team with crowd management during ingress and egress.
Operational Oversight
- Oversee the smooth execution of event operations within your zone;
- Conduct pre-event checks to ensure your zone is fully operational and adheres to venue presentation standards, including cleanliness, functionality, and readiness;
- Ensure relevant operational reports are completed and submitted to Manager/Assistant Manager of Guest Experience at shift end; operational reports include, but are not limited to, post-event debrief notes, maintenance reports, incident reports, timesheets, performance management documentation, guest recovery tracking;
- Collaborate with Event Operations, Security, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination and communication across your deployment zone;
- Monitor ongoing BCP radio communication, respond and action in a timely manner when dispatched over the radio;
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations by BCP team members and when applicable, ensure team members are wearing correct Personal Protective Equipment; complete Incident Reports and ensure Incident, First-Aid or Witness reports are completed by team members. Make sure reports are distributed as required;
- Other duties as operationally required.
**WHAT YOU BRING**:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent credentials;
- Completion of related courses such as management supervision, customer service, human resources, public relations, training and development;
- Experience working in a unionized environment and supervising unionized staff is required, preferably in the same or related industry;
- Knowledge of event-based ticketing equipment (i.e. ticket scanners, turnstiles, etc.);
- Must be able to work varied hours including evenings, weekends and holidays;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills;
- Ability to prioritize conflicting requirements in a timely manner; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on timelines and delivery;
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service and guest experience;
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment with large crowds, exceeding 40,000 people, while working independently and thinking critically.
