**Research Finance Coordinator**:
**Primary Purpose**:The primary purpose of this position is to provide exemplary research finance and finance administrative support for the College of Engineering research initiatives. This includes providing administrative support to research finance processes and activities, working with faculty members to ensure proper planning and financial compliance, and collaborating with units across campus to develop best practices for research finance.
**Nature of Work**:Reporting to the Associate Dean Research, this position is part of an administrative team that includes the Research Facilitator and the Finance SBA. The position is of average complexity, work must consistently meet high standards of accuracy in an environment of continuous change and frequent interruptions. Communications with internal audiences require strong written and verbal communication skills that demonstrate diplomacy and proactive support for College of Engineering research. The work is deadline driven and highly detailed, requiring skills in prioritizing in order to meet external and internal timelines. There is a strong emphasis on anticipating requirements and creating solutions. Discretion is required as the position has access to highly confidential information.
**Accountabilities**
- Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and positivity, along with an ability to create and nurture positive working relationships.
- Provide day-to-day support to College Faculty including but not limited to;
- Scheduled financial reporting
- Data analysis
- Development of reports as requested by supervisor and collaborators
- Share knowledge appropriately to allow fully informed decision making by colleagues of the office as well as those seeking information from the office.
- Exercise decision-making and problem-solving to ensure priorities and deadlines are met and take initiative to move beyond completion of assigned tasks to plan for future changes or requirements.
- Provide excellent research and administrative support through undertaking other assigned research projects and tasks as required.
- Provide customer service for finance inquiries including notification of appropriate sources whenever applicable.
- Assist with administrative processes related to funding initiatives in support of the Research Facilitator, specifically as it relates to budget submissions
- Assess research finance administrative procedures and processes with a view to making them more effective and efficient.
- Supports the appropriate interpretation and compliance with internal and external policies, procedures and regulations.
- Keep up to date with relevant university policy changes and disseminate knowledge to departments and researchers as required.
- Work with the College Clerical team to ensure transactions are completed in adherence to College and University processes.
- Duties may also include processing JVs, EJSs, and other financial transactions when time-sensitive
**Qualifications**
**Education**: University or post-secondary education in a relevant field, preferably in Business or Operations Management. A Business Accountancy diploma from a recognized institution or Bachelor of Commerce degree with an accounting major is considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
**Experience**: At least three to five years of related experience is required; preferably in a complex and diverse organization, such as a post-secondary education or health care environment. An understanding of the national research environment and policies and guidelines prescribed by funding agencies, such as NSERC. Familiarity with complex reporting related to federally and internationally funded grants such as those from MITACS, BioFuelNet Canada, and KERI is considered highly valuable. Experience working in an Engineering environment is also considered a strong asset. Knowledge of accounting procedures and protocols, budget administration and financial forecasting, analysis and reporting. Experience in complex data analysis and/or interpretation, evaluation methodologies, and developing formal reports and policy. Strong to excellent analytic ability including self-directed spreadsheet and data-based analysis, modeling, reporting and superior desktop software skills, in particular, Microsoft Excel. Direct knowledge and experience with University of Saskatchewan systems and functions including payroll, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and payment services would be an asset. Experience working and collaborating in diverse and inclusive settings is required.
