**Human Resources Manager**
**Location: Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, Brantford, Mississauga of the Credit First Nation or Thunder Bay**
Under the direction of the Director of Corporate Finance and Administration, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading the human resource functions of OFNTSC including, but not limited to, performance management and development, recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, employee relations and administrative and other related duties in a manner that is consistent with OFNTSC culture and values. Strict confidentiality must be recognized and maintained at all times. Under the supervision of the Director of Corporate Finance and Administration, the duties and responsibilities of the Human Resources Manager include:
**Recruitment and Retention**
- Advise and support the development and improvement of OFNTSC’s recruitment and retention strategies
- Work with Directors to identify critical hiring and organizational needs
- Oversee and improve OFNTSC’s Summer Student and Intern/Coop programs
- Participate and provide input during interviewing and selection processes including the development of interview question templates and grading templates
- Conducts exit interviews for employee departures
**Administration**
- Provides leadership and oversight to the OFNTSC HR Generalist;
- Oversees maintenance and integrity of personnel information through HRMS and other systems;
- Manages the processing of employee departures, LOAs, return to work and workplace accommodations
- Oversees the maintenance and completion of the HRMS (BambooHR) including performance management software
**Performance Management and Development**
- Oversee the annual OFNTSC performance management process
- Maintain and update OFNTSC’s database of job descriptions
- Work with Directors to drive and support training and development through individual development plans
- Responsible for the delivery and improvement of the OFNTSC Mentorship program
**Employee Relations**
- Monitors and identifies legal requirements and government regulations, including the Workers’ Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and ensures OFNTSC policies, procedures, and reporting are current and in compliance
- Responsible for the effective delivery of OFNTSC Wellness and Workplace Safety and Health programs
- Assists with the implementation and ongoing administration of the OFNTSC’s occupational health and safety program and participates as a management representative at the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC);
- Administers policies and procedures relating to all aspects of HR activity and recommends policy
**Compensation and Benefits**
- Oversee the OFNTSC employee reward and recognition and employee engagement initiatives
- Maintain relationship with OFTNSC’s benefits provider/broker and participate in regular benefits review sessions and provide recommendations for improvements, additions, and changes
- HR maintenance with benefits and pensions provider/broker
- Work with the Finance team to ensure that payroll and compensation changes are efficiently processed
**Other**
- Collaborates with external suppliers to provide HR services such as training, employee assistance, and relocation;
- Oversees the production of HR statistical reports, analysis, briefing notes and summaries;
- Assists and or contributes to the preparation of an annual work plan, HR budget and quarterly Board Committee and Board updates;
- Ensures the secure handling and storage of confidential documents;
- Travel may be required;
- Assists other team members within the organization and carries out other duties as needed and assigned.
**Education & Experience**:
- Bachelor of Administration, Bachelor of Commerce or related post-secondary education with a Human Resources specialization
- Minimum 5 years proven Human Resources Generalist and recruitment experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Supervisory or managerial experience is required;
- Experience with an Indigenous organization and culture is an asset; and
- Proficiency with G Suite, Internet, E-mail and other business-related computer software is required, including HRMS (BambooHR).
**Language Skills**:
- Understanding of working with the Indigenous community is preferred
- Understanding of an Indigenous language is preferred
