The work of Good Shepherd is based on a fundamental belief in providing hope and restoring dignity to the most vulnerable members of our community. Our services include emergency food transitional housing and education for homeless and street-involved youth; hospice palliative care; community mental health programs; and supportive housing programs. We are committed to integrating Harm Reduction practices into our programs and to prioritizing the rights, dignity, and choices of those who use substances. By integrating a Harm Reduction framework at Good Shepherd, we can decrease barriers to service and better support some of our community's most marginalized members.
HOMES is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a **Community Support Cleaning Coach.**
**How You Will Make an Impact**
The HOMES program provides supportive housing to persons who have been homeless and are living with a mental illness. Team members support tenants to reach personal goals and to have a satisfying and meaningful life in the community. **An opportunity exists to join our Mental Health team as a Community Support Cleaning Coach.**
- Work to make a difference in the lives of tenants living at various apartment buildings in the Hamilton community.
- Provide hands-on assistance to tenants with independent living skills in the community - specifically cleaning, laundry, and organization.
- Be an integral part of the mental health team that supports and advocates for the clients.
- Work collaboratively with the tenants in their home and in a range of community settings with a range of functions, such a cleaning, and other associated tasks that supports our tenants.
**What You'll Bring to Our Team**
- A post-secondary education and experience in social services, personal support, and/or life skills training.
- A minimum of two years' experience in mental health, health care, developmental services and/or concurrent disorders is required.
- A 'recovery orientation' and consumer driven' style of practice.
- The ability to work independently, take initiative and think creatively.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with diverse and complex health and psycho-social needs.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently in client homes and community settings.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd.
- Fluent in English; second language skills is considered a strong asset.
