**Responsibilities**:
- Given the academic priorities and goals, leads their implementation and reviews the outcomes.
- Examines internal processes, suggests and implements procedural changes to improve daily operations.
- Oversees the Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE) policies/procedures and is responsible for creating processes for academic operations.
- Works closely with the FBE’s Business Development Officer (BDO) on external partnership opportunities and with department chairs and graduate program coordinators to support strategic enrolment initiatives.
- Identifies opportunities for academic development and, in concert with the Dean, department chairs and the BDO, develops business plans and feasibility studies to demonstrate the risk and benefits associated with implementation of new programs or project proposals.
- Manages and assumes accountability for all approved Dean’s Office projects through project development, planning, implementation and evaluation stages. Ensures that deliverables meet acceptable parameters and time, budget, quality and success criteria.
- Develops financial plans for projects, identifying funding and other resource requirements and identifies and works with relevant internal and external stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables, developing ideas or concepts into tangible outcomes with metrics that align with all stakeholder needs.
- In concert with the BDO, prepare proposals for external partnerships, develop business plans and feasibility studies to demonstrate the risks and benefits associated with new programs and proposals, and follow up on post-proposal activities.
- Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are central to the FBE academic mission.
- Oversees experiential learning opportunities for FBE students, identifies needs, strategizes on improvements and reports on activities
- Chairs the Faculty’s Student Steering Committee and provides oversight of the Faculty’s student groups and recommends funding models to the Dean. Provides leadership and training to ensure groups are positive ambassadors of the Faculty.
- Oversees the events, communications and student portfolios for the Dean’s Office and provides vision and leadership in improving student engagement in the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
- Manages the academic affairs of the Faculty as they relate to the Dean’s Office (including tenure & promotion, merit, research/study leaves, course releases, activity reports and annual evaluations, contract academic staff processes, faculty research funding, and academic staffing).
- Oversees the Faculty’s data files and supervises casual/temporary employees in data management. Analyses data and produces reports to guide academic and administrative initiatives.
- Prepares reports on the activities of the Faculty for both internal and external audiences.
Responsible for the FBE’s alumni program:
- With the Dean and the Faculty’s alumni committee, sets and implements the strategic direction of the program. This initiative is in the early stages and requires significant innovation and planning to achieve the great potential benefits to the FBE and the University.
- Identifies and makes recommendations to the Dean on the human and financial resources required for the program.
Manages the UW India Centre, housed in the FBE
- Oversees all India Centre initiatives, ensuring adequate human and financial resources for delivery. Activities of the Centre include fundraising, academic and cultural events, oversight of a bursary, liaising with government and consular bodies, and other opportunities as they arise.
- Establishes strong working relationships with community board members, external partners, and sponsors of the Centre.
- Leads the Dean’s Office in the development and implementation of strategic and yearly plans and serves as a key advisor to the Dean.
- Responsible for hiring, training, performance review and management, and assignment of day-to-day tasks for all direct reports.
- Chairs and/or participates on other internal committees and working groups as assigned by the Dean.
- Acts as a department resource, proposes solution to problems encountered and supports objectives achievement.
**Qualifications**:
- Undergraduate degree is required
- Project Management certification is an asset
- A minimum of five years’ experience or demonstrated ability in project planning, coordination and evaluation, preferably in a post-secondary environment is required
- A minimum two years’ supervisory experience is required
- Experience monitoring, analysing and preparing financial plans/activities is an asset
- Experience in survey design and data analysis is an asset
- Knowledge of the Faculty of Business and Economics and of the University and its collective agreements, practices, policies and procedures and organizational structure is preferred
