Environmental Inspector

Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in biology, ecology, environmental science, or related field;
- A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in all aspects of environmental monitoring during construction;
- Completion of Erosion and Sediment Control Monitoring Training (e.g., Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC), International Erosion Control Association (IECA), Vancouver Island University (VIU), Erosion and Sediment Control Practitioner (ESCP) or Certified Professional of Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC);
- In-depth knowledge of Environmental Laws and Regulations, MTO Environmental Standards and Practices, and Best Management Practices;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; and
- Must be able to travel to and from various work sites.
The following would be considered an asset:
- Experience with GIS;
- Experience collecting soil and water samples;
- Experience with provincial and federal fisheries and/or terrestrial field protocols and processes;
- Experience in the identification of Ontario fish and wildlife species;
- Experience with the Erosion & Sediment Control Guideline for Urban Construction - and the Ministry of Transportation Construction Inspector’s Environmental Field Guide;
- Experience in identifying and assessing environmental impacts from development proposals, as it relates to aquatic and/or terrestrial species/habitats and species at risk; and
- Backpack Electrofishing Certification.
